KUTZTOWN--A 26-second victory by
Vicki Davis (New Ringgold/Schuylkill Haven) helped lead the Huskies to a first place finish today at the Division II Challenge at Kutztown University. As a team the Huskies finished with 57 points beating runner-up Kutztown which finished with 62 points.
Davis finished first overall with a time of 22:32 in the 6K event. She was joined in the top-10 by
Lauren Lehman (Mt. Holly Springs/Boiling Springs), who finished ninth overall in 23:44 and
Katie Filemyr (Willow Grove/Bishop McDevitt), who crossed the line just seconds after at 23:52.
Senior
Kelsey Harm (Boothwyn/Cardinal O'Hara) took 14th overall in the field of 92 runners with a time of 24:15, and
Courtney Werner (Hudson, OH/Hudson) placed 23rd with a time of 24:55.
Shelby Pealer (Naperville, IL/Naperville Central), 25:06 and
Lauren Bond (Hatfield/North Penn), 25:15, were the next two Huskies to cross the finish line.
“Our women ran well today,” Coach
Bernie Empie said after the meet. “Obviously, it always helps in the team score when you have the individual winner. However, placing two others in the top 10 and our fourth in the top 15 is what really made all the difference.”
The Huskies will head to Lehigh University on Sept. 28 for their next meet. The event will start at 1:00 P.M.
