Game Preview: Huskies Look To Stretch Win Streak in Tuesday Contest vs. The Rock

STORYLINE
Nationally-ranked Bloomsburg will try to avenge an earlier loss at the hands of Slippery Rock when The Rock visits Sports Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. Already on a season-long winning streak, the Huskies are seeking a fourth consecutive victory and a continued rise up the PSAC standings. Both teams ride three-game winning streaks into Tuesday's contest.

LAST TIME OUT
(Box Score) Bloomsburg blanked Kutztown for a 3-0 victory on Saturday at Sports Stadium. The game was also the Huskies' annual Play 4 The Cure game to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research. After the two teams played to a scoreless first half, the Huskies used a quick strike offense to break open the game. Brittany Mathews (Reedsville/Indian Valley) broke the deadlock with a penalty stroke goal at 42:36 before Felicia Domenici (Kunkletown/Pleasant Valley) scored at 43:18 on a Mathews assist. Nikki Gattone (Reading/Muhlenberg) scored unassisted at 52:03.
 
SCOUTING SLIPPERY ROCK
Slippery Rock enters Tuesday's game on a roll, winning its last three contests to move back toward the .500 mark at 6-7 on the season. The Rock has knocked off Lindenwood (3-2), Mansfield (3-1) and Seton Hill (3-1) in their past three games after previously losing five straight prior to the recent upswing. The Rock was selected seventh in the PSAC preseason poll after finishing the 2012 season ranked No. 9 in the final NFHCA Division II poll. A year ago, The Rock won eight games for the first time since 1998. Thus far on the season junior Lindsay Brown leads the team with 12 goals along with five assists for a total of 29 points, ranking tied second in the PSAC in goals and third in points. Kelsey Gustafson and Megan McKay each add four goals apiece. Sophomore Carlee DuMars and Junior Courtney Lee have split time in the cage with DuMars seeing action in 11 games with a 2.13 GAA and 36 saves in 525 minutes while Lee has eight starts with 35 saves and a 2.69 GAA in 390 minutes of playing time.

LAST MEETING
(Box Score) Slippery Rock scored a 3-2 upset victory over Bloomsburg at home on Sept. 18 in a game that did not count toward the PSAC standings. The teams exchanged first half goals with The Rock's Lauren Geiser striking first at 17:32 before Felicia Domenici (Kunkletown/Pleasant Valley) answered at 22:06 to tie the game at halftime. The Rock seized control on goals from Courtney Bradshaw (39:19) and Gina Smarrelli (43:10). Brittany Mathews (Reedsville/Indian Valley)' penalty stroke goal at 44:52 closed the scoring, but The Rock defense preserved the victory. Carlee DuMars and Courtney Lee split time in the cage evenly for The Rock, both notching two saves in 35 minutes while each allowing a goal, while Megan Eppley (Camp Hill/Camp Hill) made five saves for Bloomsburg.

HUSKIES LEADING SCORERS
Felicia Domenici (Kunkletown/Pleasant Valley) continues to lead the Huskies in scoring this season with a total of 27 points (12 goals and three assists) with Brittany Matthews second with 18 points (seven goals and four assists) while Sam Peters (Yeagerstown/Mifflin County) is third with four goals and one assist for nine points. Candice Smith (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) has a team-high five assists and two goals for nine points.

IN GOAL
Megan Eppley (Camp Hill/Camp Hill) has started all 11 games for the Huskies this season and has a goals against average of 1.32 on the year with 38 saves.
