KUTZTOWN – The Bloomsburg women's soccer team fell at Kutztown, 2-0, on Wednesday afternoon in a contest between Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference foes.

Bloomsburg now stands at 4-6 overall and 2-6 in the PSAC East while Kutztown improves to 6-3, 6-3 with its fifth straight victory.

The two teams played to a scoreless tie during the first 45 minutes. The Huskies had back-to-back early chances, first on an attack from Tara Huber (Orefield/Parkland) in the fourth minute, then another by Jamie Vaniver (Holland/Council Rock South) in the seventh minute, but both shots were turned away by Golden Bears keeper Alina Rakiewicz.

Kutztown broke through in the 58th minute when Sam Costello took an assist from Katie Oliveri and found the net for the first score of the match.

Bloomsburg again threatened with a shot from Katy Fexa (Allentown/Parkland) which sailed wide in the 68th minute and then, just 40 seconds later when Jenna Fisher (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) placed a shot on goal that was again stopped by Rakiewicz.

The hosts found some insurance in the 70th minute when Megan Frailer's rebound off a Costello shot made the score 2-0.
