EDINBORO-The Bloomsburg University wrestling team finished second at the 2013 PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) championships on Saturday at Edinboro University. Winning championships for the Huskies were
Mike Dessino (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) at 174 pounds,
Richard Perry (Meriden, CT/Middletown) at 197 and
Justin Grant (Easton/Easton) at 285. In addition the Huskies had two runners-up; three, third-place finishers and one, sixth-place finisher.

Dessino, the top seed, rolled through the bracket in dominating fashion to claim the second PSAC title of his career. He opened the tournament with a win by fall over Tyler Mohlenrich of Seton Hill in 2:01. He then won by major decision, 11-2, over Adam Mackie of Lock Haven in the semi-finals. In the finals he pinned third seed August Mizia from Mercyhurst in 2:19 to claim the title.

Perry, the top seed, claimed his second straight PSAC title by posting a 7-2 victory over Vincent Pickett of Edinboro in the finals. Perry started the day with a win by fall in 5:42, then, won by decision, 8-3, over Brandon Clark of Kutztown in the semi-finals.

Grant, also the top seed, extended his winning streak to 10 straight matches by going 4-0 on the day. Grant opened with a first period fall (2:03) over Kyle Wolfe of Millersville; then won 9-1 over Nick Budd of Gannon. In the semi-finals he had his second first period fall of the tournament winning in 1:27 over Brad Emerick of Lock Haven, then beat Ernest James 2-1 in the finals. The title was the second straight for Grant.

Finishing second for the Huskies were
Matt Rappo (Holland/Council Rock South) at 141 and
Bryce Busler (Mechanicsburg/Cumberland Valley) at 149. Rappo, seeded third, beat A.J. Fisher of Seton Hill by fall in 3:52 to start the day; then beat sixth seed Mitch Voelker of Kutztown, 8-0, and second seed Dave Cawley of Pitt-Johnstown, 12-4 in the semi-finals. In the finals he lost to nationally ranked Mitchell Port of Edinboro, 16-1.

Busler, the second seed, went 3-1 on the day. Busler won by technical fall, fall and decision to reach the finals. In the finals he battled with nationally ranked Dave Habat of Edinboro losing by a 3-1 score.

Finishing third for the Huskies was
Sean Boylan (Seaville, NJ/St. Marks) (125);
Nick Wilcox (Greene, NY/Greene Central) (133) and
Kevin Hartnett (Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell) (157), while
Sam Shirey (Beaver Springs/Midd-West) took sixth. Boylan won his third place match 5-3 over Matt Turek of Gannon; while Wilcox won 5-3 over Cody Wheeler of Lock Haven; while Hartnett posted an 8-7, overtime victory against Francis Mizia of Mercyhurst.

The Huskies, ranked 24th in the USA Today/NWCA/AWN Coaches poll, return to dual meet action on Thursday, Dec. 19 at Lock Haven.
