Swim Teams Return To Competition Friday at Susquehanna

The Huskies return to meet competition this Friday night at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove at 6 p.m. after enjoying a successful winter training week in Florida. Despite battling the unseasonably cold temperatures, the Huskies put together a productive trip, highlighted by winning the combined title at the Bob Mowerson Meet on Jan. 7. Bloomsburg finished with the highest combined team score among 16 teams from Division I, II and II at the event with the men's team finishing first among 12 teams and the women finishing second out of 14 squads.
 
LAST TIME OUT

Men (Meet Recap) – Before traveling south for winter training, the Huskies were last in action at the Zippy Invitational in December. Bloomsburg put together a spectacular showing, winning the three-day event with 1,798 points to outpace Division I St. Bonaventure which totaled 1725.5 points for the team crown. Taking third was IUP with 1376.5 points. In the final day, Brandon Sherbo (Etters/Red Land) broke his own school record in the 1650-free (16:04.76) and A.J. Brady (Wilmington, DE/Delaware Military Academy) also set a school mark of 1:53.75 in the 200-back. Bryan Masilotti (Vineland, N.J./Vineland) captured another school record in the 100-free (45.92) while the 400-free relay team of Masilotti, Eric Usbeck (Lake Ariel/Wallenpaupack Area), Bill Urban (Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan) and Jake Harner (Philadelphia/Father Judge) just missed a school record by 0.11 seconds with a time of 3:06.17.

Women (Meet Recap) – Before traveling south for winter training, the Huskies were last in action at the Zippy Invitational in December. The Huskies finished sixth at the event with 792 points. In the final day, the Huskies posted four NCAA "B" cut times and eight new PSAC qualifying times. Brooke Gilson (Whitehall/Whitehall) had a "B" cut time in the 1650-free (17:13.37) and Alison Bradway (Tabernacle, NJ/Seneca) did as well at 17:38.40. Meghan Gallagher (Aston/Sun Valley) had a NCAA "B" cut time of 52.46 in the 100-free prelims and Rachel Brooker (Stevens/Cocalico ) had another NCAA "B" time in the 200-fly (2:07.55).
 
UP NEXT
The Bloomsburg women return to PSAC action by hosting East Stroudsburg in the final home meet of the season on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 1 p.m. inside Nelson Field House. The men next hit the pool at the IUP Invitational on Jan. 31.
