SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University women's swim team returned to competition by scoring a victory at Susquehanna University on Friday night, 124-80.
The Huskies registered a number of individual victories on the night.
Brooke Gilson (Whitehall/Whitehall) touched first in the 1000 yard freestyle with a PSAC qualifying time of 10:39.81, ahead of teammate
Alison Bradway (Tabernacle, NJ/Seneca) who also had a PSAC mark of 10:54.58.
Gilson also earned the win in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:18.85, beating the PSAC standard of 5:21.47.
Alison Bradway (Tabernacle, NJ/Seneca) was second in the event at a 5:21.95.
Bloomsburg swept the top three spots in the 200 yard freestyle with
Ashley Dix (Schwenksville/Perkiomen Valley) winning with a time of 2:01.39 ahead of
Kaci McIlmoyle (Landenberg/Avon Grove) who finished at 2:02.51 and
Kristina Halner (Chalfont/Archbishop Wood) who was third at 2:03.22.
Meghan Gallagher (Aston/Sun Valley) turned in the winning time of 25.13 in the 50 yard freestyle, squeaking under the PSAC qualifying standard of 25.19. Gallagher won again in the 100 yard freestyle with a PSAC qualifer of 54.68. Dix finished second as her time of 55.02 missed the PSAC standard of 55.01 by the smallest of margins.
In the 200 yard IM,
Rachel Brooker (Stevens/Cocalico ) was the winner with a PSAC qualifying time of 2:14.75.
Alex Wheatley (Dresher/Upper Dublin) touched first in the 100 yard backstroke at 1:01.11, another conference qualifying time, while teammate
Julie Ann Mahle (Kingston/Holy Redeemer) was second at 1:03.93.
The Huskies 200 yard medley relay team of Brooker, Wheatley,
Jess McGarry (Philadelphia/St. Hubert) and
Ali Luzik (Halifax/Halifax) also was victorious with a time of 1:53.00.
Bloomsburg, now 2-3 on the year, returns home to Nelson Field House next Saturday, Jan. 25 vs. East Stroudsburg in a PSAC competition beginning at 1 p.m.
