East-West Shrine Game Box Score | NFLPA Collegiate Bowl Box Score
Four members of the Bloomsburg University football team put their talents on display this week in front of NFL scouts as part of the East-West Shrine Game and NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, both aired live on national TV Saturday afternoon.
Matt Feiler (Strasburg/Lampeter-Strasburg) and
Larry Webster (Hagerstown, MD/Elkton) took part in the 89th edition of the East-West Shrine Game held in St. Petersburg, Fla., broadcast on NFL Network. The two Huskies teammates were lined up against each other throughout the game with Feiler playing for the East Team and head coach Jerry Glanville while Webster wore the colors of the West Team and head coach Romeo Crennel. The Huskies duo both received attention from the NFL Network announce team throughout the game and Webster, who owns the top two season sack totals in school history, was able to begin the second half with a sack while hurrying East quarterbacks on multiple occasions. The East Team ultimately won, 23-13.
On the other side of the country, two other Huskies were taking part in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in Carson, Calif., broadcast on ESPN2.
Franklyn Quiteh (Tobyhanna/Pocono Mountain West) and
Brian Clarke (Hanover/Hanover) both suited up for the American Team coached by Dennis Green and quickly re-enacted a scene played out against PSAC opponents numerous times over the past four years. Blocking from Clarke helped spring Quiteh for a 20-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and an early 7-0 lead for the American Team. The pair also featured prominently in another American touchdown drive to tie the game at 14 shortly before halftime. The National Team, coached by Dick Vermeil, came away with the 31-17 victory.
Quiteh finished with 10 carries for 48 yards and a touchdown.
All four players took part in practice sessions throughout the week with other top NFL Draft eligible prospects from around the country in front of scouts. The NFL Draft is slated for May 8-10.
