STORYLINEBloomsburg looks to even up its overall record on Saturday and get within one game of .500 in PSAC play when they take on PSAC East rival Shippensburg.
LAST MEETING(Box Score) On October 19 last year Shippensburg came into Bloomsburg and outdueled the Huskies for a 1-0 overtime win. Jenna Brown buried the ball in the lower right corner in the 95th minute to seal the victory for the Raiders. The Huskies won the overall shot battle 10-9, but the Raiders put six shots on net to Bloomsburg's four.
SCOUTING SHIPPENSBURGShippensburg has started off the year with 13 straight PSAC matches, falling to a 3-7-3 record. While the Raiders have outshot opponents 174-148, they have been outscored 14-9. They have played strong defense in front of their net, allowing a little over one goal per game. On offense they look to freshman forward Jenny Litz, who has fired 34 shots on net and scored three goals. Freshman Kayla Kennedy has made the most of her time in net this season for the Raiders, allowing nine goals and making 53 saves in 12 starts for a .700 GAA.
LAST TIME OUT(Box Score) On Wednesday, the Huskies battled through double overtime to a 1-1 draw with Millersville on Senior Night. After an early second half goal from Millersville, the Huskies played with patience waiting for a chance. That chance came when
Chrissy Hollan (Laurys Station/Parkland) stepped up for a free kick at the 18-yard box. She was able to net it top shelf and tie the game for BU in the 63rd minute. Altogether the Huskies put 10 shots on net, while goalie
Megan Deak (West Islip, NY/West Islip) made seven saves.
OUTWORKING THE OPPOSITIONThe Huskies have done a tremendous job putting pressure on their opponents this season. On the year, they have outshot and outscored their opposition 196-170 and 18-17 respectively.
SECOND HALF TEAMIn the second half of games this season, the Huskies have outscored opponents 15-7.
