Box Score HTML BOX SCORE BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University women's soccer team used two second half goals to shutout IUP, 2-0, on Senior Day Saturday at Steph Pettit Stadium.
Bloomsburg had several scoring chances in the first 45 minutes, getting seven shots on goal, including two from
Chrissy Hollan (Laurys Station/Parkland), but were unable to find the back of the net. The Huskies' defense along with goalie
Devon Haviland (Warminster/Archbishop Wood) did not allow a shot on goal from the Crimson Hawks in the first half.
Six minutes into the second half
Jenna Fisher (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) volleyed the ball with her foot past the goalie off of a throw in from
Rachel Yenney (Collegeville/Perkiomen Valley), giving Bloomsburg a 1-0 lead. It was Fisher's second goal of the year.
Play was rough in the second half with as 13 fouls called between the two teams in the game's remaining minutes. In the 88
th minute
Ashley Sanchez (Lyndhurst/DePaul Catholic) was fouled inside the 18-yard box, giving Bloomsburg a penalty kick.
Chrissy Hollan (Laurys Station/Parkland) stepped up and put the ball past the goalie into the lower right corner of the net for a 2-0 lead, and her third goal of the season.
The Huskies finished the game outshooting IUP, 13-3, and holding an advantage in corner kicks, 3-0.
The Huskies, 9-6-1, 7-6-1 PSAC, will travel to face Chestnut Hill on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
