BLOOMSBURG-- The Bloomsburg University women's swim team will swim against West Chester on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Nelson Field House pool beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the season opener for the Huskies.
Bloomsburg - Women:
Â
Last season the Huskies went 8-2 and took second at the PSAC Championships.
Â
The team graduated six seniors and will be without senior
Nikki Young (Eagleville, Pa./Methacton) due to a season-ending injury. The senior class was the core of the relays for Bloomsburg, so the Huskies are looking to five freshmen and one sophomore to help fill the gap.
Â
Captains will be Young,
Alison Turzanski (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia),
Karly Hursey (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll). Along with the captains,
Brooke Gilson (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall),
Courtney Middleton (Vineland, N.J./Vineland) and
Colleen Finias (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) will look to step up and help lead the team this season. Kaci Mcllmoyle returns as a fifth senior after not competing last season.
Â
The Huskies leading in freestyle will be
Rebecca Cubbler (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford),
Kaitlyn Floyd (Mertztown, Pa./Kutztown Area),
Shannon Ball (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) and Kiara Wadsworth. Caroline Hodgine holds the team record in distance events. In the backstroke,
Mary Kate Boylan (Edgemont, Pa./Penncrest), Sam Campbell, Meg Carey, and freshman
Deanna Shuster (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) and Kiara Wadsworth will look to take the reins.
