INTERVIEW:
TREVOR ALLARD
SETTING THE SCENE...
• Bloomsburg opened the season with a pair of wins downing Davidson (35-0) and Keystone College (44-4). The win by shutout over Davidson was the Huskies first shutout since beating George Mason (39-0) on Feb. 10, 2013 and its first home shutout since downing Sacred Heart (47-0) on Dec. 3, 2011.
• The Huskies won 19 of the 20 bouts contested on the day with three wins by major decision, four by technical fall and one by fall.
• Bloomsburg had four true freshmen in its lineup on Sunday with
Willy Girard (Williamstown, Pa/Williams Valley),
Reid Stanley (Fredericksburg, OH/Waynedale),
Tyler Worthing (New Kensington, Pa/Kiski Area) and
Kyle Murphy (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan).
• The Huskies also had four red-shirt freshmen in the lineup with
Matt Noble (Bridgewater, NJ/DePaul Catholic (NJ)),
Grant Bond (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs),
Trevor Allard (Mexico, NY/Mexico) and
Bo Spiller (Quarryville, Pa./Solanco).
•
Brendon Colbert (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) had the highest scoring match of the day on Sunday when he posted a 21-3 win by technical fall. Three other Huskies,
Reid Stanley (Fredericksburg, OH/Waynedale),
Trevor Allard (Mexico, NY/Mexico) and
Tyler Worthing (New Kensington, Pa/Kiski Area) each scored 17 points in their technical fall wins.
• Allard had two bonus-point wins on the day picking up a win by major decision against Davidson and a tech fall against Keystone.
• Bloomsburg is 2-2 all-time versus Purdue, including a 37-12 loss a year ago. The Huskies are also 0-2 lifetime against Northern Illinois, including a 33-3 loss last year. This will be the first-ever matchup with Indianapolis.
QUOTABLE FROM HEAD COACH MARCUS GORDON
On The Opening Weekend
"It was great to get my first wins out of the way early. With a young team it was important for them to get two wins in front of the home crowd."
"We knew if we wrestled hard that when the dust settled we'd have some wins.
