Complete Day Three Results
AKRON, Ohio - The Bloomsburg University women's swimming team had a strong finish to the Zippy Invitational, hosted by the University of Akron, on Sunday evening and concluded the three-day event in eighth place overall with a total of 293 points in the team standings. The host Zips won the overall title with 2007 team points.
The night started well for the Huskies as junior
Karly Hursey (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) and senior
Brooke Gilson (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) posted the two fastest times in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) to date in the 1650-yard freestyle. Hursey placed tenth overall with an NCAA 'B' qualifying time of 17:18.13. It was also the seventh-fastest time in program history. Gilson, meanwhile, finished 12th with an NCAA 'B' time of 17:23.23 - the eighth-fastest time in school history.
Sophomore
Sydney Mercer (Bloomsburg, Pa./Millville) continued the fast start for the Huskies by placing eighth in the "B" final of the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:05.28. The mark was the second-best in school history and third-fastest in the conference this season. Four others posted PSAC qualifying times during the morning prelims but did not advance to the finals - freshman

The Huskies had no finalists in the 100-yard freestyle but had six swimmers post PSAC qualifying times during morning prelims. Included in those were freshman
Rebecca Cubbler (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford), who had the fourth-best time in the PSAC this season (53.01), and redshirt sophomore
Mary Kate Boylan (Edgemont, Pa./Penncrest), who posted the sixth-best time in the conference (53.23).
Junior
Sarah Ritter (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) finished sixth in the "C" final with a time of 2:26.16 in the 200-yard breaststroke to add more points to the Huskies' team total. However, it was her time of 2:24.26 during the morning prelims that was the fourth-fastest in the conference and fifth-best in school history. In the 200-yard butterfly, redshirt junior
Courtney Middleton (Vineland, N.J./Vineland) posted the fourth-best time in the PSAC this season with a time of 2:09.82 to finish sixth in the "C" final. Senior
Colleen Finias (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) posted a PSAC qualifying time of 2:13.05 during prelims but did not advance to the finals.
The final event of the night saw the Huskies have 12th place and 16th place finishes in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Cubbler, freshman
Kaitlyn Floyd (Mertztown, Pa./Kutztown Area), Boylan, and junior
Kate Cossitor (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley) posted a time of 3:32.99 - the second-fastest in the PSAC this season and the seventh-best mark in program history. The team of McIlmoyle, sophomore
Madison Heintzelman (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia), freshman
Shannon Ball (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff), and Carey ended with a time of 3:39.49.
The Huskies will now have more than a month off as they will not be back in the pool until January 20, 2017 when they host Susquehanna University at the Nelson Field House Pool. Start time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
