Bloomsburg, Pa- The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team fell to Mercyhurst University, 5-2, in the PSAC semifinals at the Burt Reese Tennis Center on Saturday. The match spanned two days due to inclement weather. All three doubles matches and one singles match were played on Friday, while the rest of the singles matches were finished on Saturday.
Doubles matches began the contest, as Bloomsburg's duo of Pablo Herrero (Puerto de la Cruz, Spain/British School Tenerife) and Dhir Gala (Mumbai, India/Mithibaii) fell, 9-7, in the number one spot. Gerard Puig (Sabadell, Spain/Juame Viladoms) and Nenyi Micah (Allentown/William Allen) followed in the number two position and dropped another hard fought match, 8-6.
At number three, the Huskies Scott Langenbach (Patchogue, NY/Patchogue-Medford) and Steve Williams (Patchogue, NY/Patchogue-Medford) got the Huskies on the board with an 8-2 victory, cutting the Lakers' lead to 2-1.
In singles play at number two, Gala battled back to earn a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win, while Mercyhurst posted victories at the number four, five and six positions to win the match.
The number three singles match was in the third set while the number one slot was in a second set tiebreak.
The Huskies finish the season with a record of 7-9 while the Lakers move to 10-7 and into the PSAC finals.
