BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University men's swimming team will return to action on Friday evening, January 20, when it hosts Susquehanna University at the Nelson Field House Pool. Start time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
BLOOMSBURG NOTES
- The Bloomsburg University men's swimming team enters Friday's dual with a perfect 5-0 record and is coming off of a stellar performance at the Zippy Invitational, hosted by the University of Akron, on December 2-4. The Huskies finished in fourth place overall with 1,038 team points.
- For his performance at Akron, senior
Eric Usbeck (Lake Ariel, Pa./Wallenpaupack) was honored by both the PSAC and by CollegeSwimming.com as the PSAC Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week. It was the second time this season that he claimed the honor from both. At the Zippy Invitational, Usbeck posted eight NCAA 'B' times and posted the then-top times in the PSAC in all eight events. He also set two conference records in the 50-yard freestyle (20.04) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:19.98) and established three school records in the 50-yard freestyle, the 100-yard freestyle (44.67), and the 200-yard freestyle relay.
- Sophomore
Kyle Dix (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) eventually won the 50-yard freestyle at Akron to become just the fourth swimmer in school history to claim an individual victory at the Zippy Invitational.
- Freshman
Doug Boehme (Blue Bell, Pa./Buxmont Christian Academy) also had a solid weekend, highlighted by his school-record setting performance in the 500-yard freestyle (4:37.68).
- As a team, the Huskies had a dozen NCAA 'B' cuts - Usbeck (four individual / four relays), Dix (three individual / three relays), junior
Sam Feiser (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) (one individual / two relays), senior
A.J. Brady (Wilmington, Del./Delaware Military Academy) (two relays), junior
Josh Grzech (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) (two relays), redshirt junior
Ryan Paisley (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area) (one relay), and junior
Alex McCullough (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) (one relay). The Huskies also posted the-then fastest PSAC times in 13 different events and had 24 additions to the school's all-time top ten lists.
- In the most recent dual, the Huskies won at Dickinson, 143-55, on November 19. Dix finished with three wins by Brady and Feiser had two each.
- The Huskies will next compete at the IUP Invitational on January 27 and 28.
SUSQUEHANNA NOTES
- The River Hawks most recently competed on Sunday, January 15 and suffered a 174-88 setback to Franklin & Marshall.
- Senior Bill Crumrine won both freestyle distance events after posting a time of 10:17.32 in the 1000-yard freestyle and a time of 4:58.53 in the 500-yard freestyle. Senior David Miller won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.75.
- Crumrine earned the Landmark Conference Swimmer of the Week honor on Monday afternoon and then was honored as the Landmark Conference Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com on Tuesday afternoon.
- Susquehanna will return home on Saturday to host Goucher College.
