COMPLETE RESULTS
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's swimming team got back into the pool on Friday evening and posted a 115-87 victory over visiting Susquehanna University at the Nelson Field House Pool. It was the Huskies' fifth consecutive victory as they improved to 5-1 overall on the season.
Bloomsburg had seven different swimmers post single victories against the River Hawks and had a total of 13 PSAC qualifying swims on Friday evening.
Senior
Brooke Gilson (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) got the ball rolling as she captured first place in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:56.60. Freshman
Rebecca Cubbler (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) and junior
Karly Hursey (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) followed with a 1-2 finish in the 200-yard freestyle. Cubbler posted a time of 1:56.29 while Hursey was right behind, touching the wall in 1:57.71.
Junior
Kate Cossitor (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley) made it three consecutive wins for the Huskies when she won the 50-yard freestyle with a mark of 25.45. Freshman
Shannon Ball (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) (25.93) and junior
Megan Carey (Waymart, Pa./Holy Cross) (26.09) were in the mix and finished third and fourth respectively.
Sophomore
Kelsey Neff (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg), sophomore
Abby Kling (York, Pa./Spring Grove), and sophomore
Lina Brouse (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) finished second, third, and fourth respectively in the 200-yard individual medley - snapping a string of three consecutive first-place finishes by the Huskies. Kling's time of 2:23.52 was a season-best.
Cossitor, redshirt sophomore
Mary Kate Boylan (Edgemont, Pa./Penncrest), and sophomore
Sydney Mercer (Bloomsburg, Pa./Millville) finished 2-3-4 in the 100-yard butterfly before the Huskies got back to their winning ways as redshirt senior
Kaci McIlmoyle (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove) posted a winning time of 54.28 in the 100-yard freestyle. Cubbler was right behind with a second-place time of 54.59.
Mercer won her only race of the evening with a time of 1:00.97 in the 100-yard backstroke. Hursey followed with a victory the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:14.22 and senior
Connie Medura (Plymouth, Pa./Nanticoke Area) finished off the River Hawks with a first-place mark of 1:10.82 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Bloomsburg will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when it travels to East Stroudsburg University. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
