COMPLETE RESULTS
CARLISLE, Pa. - Eight different members of the Bloomsburg University women's swimming team got into the win column on Saturday afternoon as the Huskies posted their third consecutive victory with a 129-65 win at Dickinson College. Bloomsburg improved to 3-2 on the season while the Red Devils dropped to 3-3.
Senior
Karly Hursey (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) won both distance freestyle events to earn a pair of individual victories on the afternoon. Redshirt senior
Nikki Young (Eagleville, Pa./Methacton) and redshirt junior
Marykate Boylan (Edgemont, Pa./Penncrest) each had one individual victory and were both part of the winning 200-yard medley relay team. Senior
Courtney Middleton (Vineland, N.J./Vineland), sophomore
Becca Cubbler (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford), and
Kelley McHugh (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) each added individual victories while senior
Kate Cossitor (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley) and junior
Samantha Carpenter (Sunbury, Pa./Shamokin Area) joined Young and Boylan on the 200-yard medley relay team.
Bloomsburg posted 19 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) marks on the afternoon.
The winning 200-yard medley relay team posted a time of 1:53.51 and won by nearly four seconds over the Huskies "B" team that touched the wall in 1:57.20. The "B" foursome consisted of sophomore
Kiera Wadsworth (Blakeslee, Pa./Ridley) and freshmen
Chelsea Ackerson (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert),
Emily Hodges (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton), and
Lindsay Mooney (Salisbury, Md./Parkside).
Hursey posted her first of two victories on the day with a dominant performance in the 1000-yard freestyle. Her time of 10:46.35 was nearly 30 seconds faster than sophomore
Kaitlyn Floyd (Mertztown, Pa./Kutztown) who finished second with a time of 11:11.32. Cubbler followed with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 2:00.38 - five-tenths of a second faster than Mooney who posted a time of 2:00.80. Ackerson was third after clocking in with a time of 2:02.83.
Young, Boylan, and Wadsworth finished 1-2-3 in the 50-yard freestyle with Young narrowly missing an NCAA "B" mark by just under five-tenths of a second. Young posted a time of 24.53 - one-and-a-half seconds faster than Boylan who clocked in at 25.95. Wadsworth was third with a time of 26 seconds flat.
Three events later, Middleton earned her victory in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:14.57. Junior
Sammie Carroll (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) was second with a time of 2:16.06. The Huskies then won three consecutive events to close out the meet as Boylan started with a win in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.12 - four-hundredths of a second faster than Mooney. McHugh posted a winning time of 2:15.06 in the 200-yard backstroke and Hursey earned the win in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:17.12.
Young closed out the meet by posting a provisional time of 2:22.25 in the 200-yard breaststroke - the second-fastest time in the PSAC, and tenth-fastest time in the country, this season.
The Huskies will travel to Akron, Ohio to compete in the three-day Zippy Invitational, hosted by the University of Akron, from Friday, December 1 through Sunday, December 3.
