LEWISBURG, Pa. - Sophomore
Amanda Aulenbach (Fleetwood, Pa./Oley Valley) of the Bloomsburg University women's track and field team got the indoor season off to a strong start on Friday night with a seventh-place finish in the pentathlon at the Bison Opener, hosted by Bucknell University. Aulenbach was the only Huskies' competitor on Friday night as a majority of the events will take place on Saturday afternoon.
Bucknell's Isabella Bjorkeson won the event with a total of 3,224 total points. Aulenbach finished with 2,906 total points.
Aulenbach started the evening with a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 9.80 seconds. She followed that up by tying her personal best mark of 1.45 meters in the high jump to finish in a tie for ninth. Aulenbach then finished third in the shot put with another personal best mark of 9.47 meters.
She finished ninth in the long jump with a distance of 4.68 meters and then crossed the finish line in third place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:35.90.
Day two of the Bison Opener will get underway on Saturday beginning at 12:00 p.m.
