DAY ONE RESULTS
PSAC CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL

YORK, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's swimming team finds itself in second place after the opening day of competition at the 2017 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships at the Graham Aquatic Center. The Huskies totaled 201 team points after day one but trails West Chester by a substantial margin as the Golden Rams posted 414 points in the first day of competition.

Bloomsburg started the day with three NCAA "B" times in the 1000-yard freestyle. Junior Karly Hursey (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) led the Huskies with a fourth-place finish in the event as she posted a time of 10:17.50. Senior Brooke Gilson was right behind in fifth place after touching the wall in 10:17.75. Freshman Rebecca Cubbler finished in sixth with a time of 10:19.28.

In the 200-yard individual medley, Bloomsburg had nine swimmers compete during morning preliminaries and five qualified for the evening finals. Sophomore Sydney Mercer (Bloomsburg, Pa./Millville) led the Huskies' contingent as she finished second in the "B" final, and tenth overall, with a time of 2:09.67. Redshirt senior Kaci McIlmoyle was fourth in the "B" final, and 12th overall, completing the race in 2:09.76. Redshirt junior Courtney Middleton (Vineland, N.J./Vineland) was eighth in the "B" final, and 16th overall, with a mark of 2:12.56.

Freshman Kiera Wadsworth (Blakeslee, Pa./Ridley) and junior Lauren Minford (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) qualified for the "C" final and finished 19th and 22nd overall, respectively.

Bloomsburg had four more swimmers qualify for evening finals in the 50-yard freestyle after morning racing. Freshman Kaitlyn Floyd (Mertztown, Pa./Kutztown) led the team with a 12th-place finish overall after a time of 24.53 in the "B" final. Redshirt sophomore Mary Kate Boylan, junior Kate Cossitor (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley), and junior Megan Carey (Waymart, Pa./Holy Cross) each qualified for the "C" final. Boylan finished 17th overall while Cossitor and Carey were 22nd and 24th respectively.

In the final event of the day, the Huskies posted a seventh-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Wadsworth, junior Sarah Ritter (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll), Cossitor, and Boylan teamed up for a time of 1:49.06.

The competition will get underway again on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m.
