STORYLINE
The Bloomsburg University women's volleyball team heads to Shippensburg University on Friday night and Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday afternoon in a pair of contests against divisional opponents. The Huskies split a pair of matches last weekend, earning the program's first-ever PSAC win over Kutztown on Friday before falling in four sets to East Stroudsburg. After starting the season 1-2, the Raiders are 17-1 in their last 18 matches and enter with an 18-3 overall record. The Mountain Cats, meanwhile, have won four of their last five matches to get their record above .500 at 11-10 on the season. Pitt-Johnstown square off against Lock Haven on Friday night.
 
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
Bloomsburg is 5-13 overall and 1-8 in the PSAC Central Division entering this weekend's contests. The Huskies posted the program's first-ever PSAC victory last Friday with a straight-sets win against visiting Kutztown before falling in four sets to East Stroudsburg. The Huskies come in ranked third in the PSAC in digs per set (18.50) and eighth in service aces per set (1.67). Bloomsburg, however, is 15th in the league in hitting percentage (.126) and is allowing opponents to hit .202 on the year - 14th in the conference. Redshirt senior Sarah Gomish (Ebensburg, Pa./Bishop Carroll Catholic) leads the team in kills with 220 and ranks second on the team in digs with 182. She is fourth in the conference in kills per set (3.73) and is eighth in the PSAC in points per set (3.93). She recorded the 1,000th kill of her collegiate career at California on September 15 and is 61 digs away from reaching the same milestone in that category. Freshman Mary Kate Mooney (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) is second on the team with 140 kills and third in digs with 142. Freshman Grace Giza (Plymouth, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) is starting to come on strong as she is third on the team with 75 kills while leading the team in blocks per set (0.51). Freshmen Emma Van Arsdale (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) and Bryn Stek (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) have split time as the team's setter over the last six matches. Van Arsdale still leads with 410 assists and is tied for fourth in the PSAC in service aces per set (0.46). Stek has led the Huskies in assists in each of the last six matches and has 142 on the season (4.73 per set). Defensively, Mia Nicholes (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) leads the team with 25 total blocks while Giza is also in double figures with 21. The Huskies are last in the conference in blocks per set (0.92) but have narrowed the gap on Millersville over the last couple of weeks. Sophomore Alyssa Cianciulli (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) is tops on the squad with 421 digs. She averages 7.02 digs per set - second in the conference and fourth in the country.
 
SCOUTING SHIPPENSBURG
The Raiders enter Friday's contest on the heels of consecutive 3-0 victories over West Chester and Millersville last weekend. Shippensburg currently sits atop the PSAC Central Division with a 18-3 record overall and a 8-1 mark in the conference. The Raiders' offense has been dominant all season as they rank first in the PSAC in kills per set (14.14) and assists per set (13.41) while ranking second in hitting percentage (.230). Defensively, Shippensburg has been equally strong as it ranks third in blocks per set (1.96), second in digs per set (20.93), and fourth in opponents' hitting percentage (.138). Morgan DeFloria leads the Raiders in kills with 277 on the season and ranks third in the conference in kills per set (3.79). Samantha Webber and Gabriella Johnson have also reached 200 kills on the year with 233 and 203, respectively. Emily Hangen has been the main setter for the team and has posted 838 assists on the season and ranks first in the PSAC in assists per set (11.48). Megan Frostburg leads the team in digs with 392 (5.27 per set) ranking sixth in the PSAC in that category. Kendall Johnson leads the Raiders with 75 blocks (1.03 per set) ranking her sixth in the PSAC in blocks per set.

SCOUTING PITT-JOHNSTOWN
The Mountain Cats will play the Huskies on Saturday after hosting Lock Haven on Friday night. In its last game on Wednesday, Pitt-Johnstown defeated Point Park in a non-conference game to improve to 11-10 overall and 5-4 in the PSAC Central. The Mountain Cats have done well at the net as they rank fifth in the PSAC in blocks per set (1.89). Pitt-Johsntown ranks eighth in the PSAC in both kills per set (12.24) and assists per set (11.61) but allow the most blocks to the opposition in the conference (2.11 per set). Offensively, Maura Brehl leads the team with kills 283 (3.45 per set) and ranks ninth in the PSAC in kills per set. J.C. Longeville has been the main setter and has racked up 647 assists (7.89 per set) ranking her 12th in the conference. Morgan Yurkovich has also contributed with 205 assists (3.87 per set). Erin Carmody leads the Mountain Cats in digs with 412 and ranks eighth in the PSAC in digs per set (5.13). Anna Johns has tallied 86 blocks on the season and currently ranks fourth in the PSAC in blocks per set (1.09).

UP NEXT
Bloomsburg will be back on the road next Friday, October 19, and Saturday, October 20, when it heads to Slippery Rock and Edinboro. Start times are scheduled fro 7:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m., respectively.
