STORYLINE
The Bloomsburg University women's volleyball team takes a quick break from Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play as they travel to play the River Hawks of Susquehanna University on Wednesday night. The Huskies are on a five-match losing streak with their last win coming against Kutztown on October 5. Susquehanna is coming off of wins against Swarthmore and Wesleyan (Conn.) last weekend.
 
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
Bloomsburg enters this weekend's contests with a 5-17 record overall and a 1-12 mark in the PSAC Central division. The Huskies enter the match on a five-game losing streak after setbacks against Slippery Rock and Edinboro last weekend. The Huskies come in ranked fourth in the PSAC in digs per set (18.03) and tenth in service aces per set (1.51). Bloomsburg, however, is 15th in the league in hitting percentage (.111) and is allowing opponents to hit .212 on the year, ranking them last in the conference. Redshirt senior Sarah Gomish (Ebensburg, Pa./Bishop Carroll Catholic) leads the team in kills with 246 and ranks second on the team in digs with 218. She is ninth in the conference in kills per set (3.42). She recorded the 1,000th kill of her collegiate career at California on September 15 and is 25 digs away from reaching the same milestone in that category. Freshman Mary Kate Mooney (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) is second on the team with 156 kills and third in digs with 180. Freshman Grace Giza (Plymouth, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) is starting to emerge as a key playmaker at the net and is third on the team with 88 kills while leading the team in blocks per set (0.59). Freshmen Emma Van Arsdale (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) and Bryn Stek (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) have split time as the team's setter over the last ten matches. Van Arsdale continues to lead the team with 450 assists and is sixth in the PSAC in service aces per set (0.42). Stek has led the Huskies in assists in nine of the last ten matches and has 178 on the season (4.36 per set). Defensively, Mia Nicholes (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) leads the team with 34 total blocks while Giza is right behind with 32. The Huskies are last in the conference in blocks per set (0.97) but have been improving their play at the net in their recent run of matches. Sophomore Alyssa Cianciulli (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) is tops on the squad with 505 digs. She averages 6.92 digs per set - second in the conference and fourth in the country.
 
SCOUTING SUSQUEHANNA
The River Hawks enter Wednesday's match coming off of wins over Wesleyan (Conn.) and Swarthmore last Saturday. They currently have a 20-12 overall record and a 3-1 mark in the Landmark Conference where they sit in a tie for second place. Hannah Lyons leads the team in kills with 319, ranking her eighth in the Landmark in kills per set (2.70). Lyons also has been a prominent figure at the net as she leads in blocks with 93 and ranks fourth in the conference in blocks per set (0.79). Lindsey Pugh has been the main setter for the River Hawks and has almost reached the century mark in assists with 989 on the season (8.99 per set). Lizzie Herestofa leads the team, and the conference, in digs with 536 and ranks second in the conference in digs per set (4.70). Caroline Beohm leads in service aces with 40 and also has pitched in with 67 assists and 341 digs.

Bloomsburg returns to the Nelson Field House and to PSAC play with matches against Mercyhurst University on Friday, October 26, and Gannon on Saturday, October 27. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday and 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
