COMPLETE RESULTS
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University men's swimming team earned its first victory of the 2018-19 season with a 156-86 win at Susquehanna University on Saturday. Nine different swimmers posted at least one victory on the afternoon and the Huskies had eight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying marks during the meet.
Junior
Jordan Wyant (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) paced the Huskies with three individual victories while redshirt junior
Kyle Dix (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley), junior
Colin Bauer (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts), redshirt sophomore
Matt Rocchi (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan), and sophomore
Collin Hummel (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) each earned one individual win and were part of one winning relay foursome. Senior
Matthew Schulz (Norristown, Pa./Methacton), freshman
Pat Agnew (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove), freshman
Logan Baker (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts), and sophomore
Tyler Reed (Hereford, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) were also part of winning relay teams on Saturday.
The Huskies started the day by finishing 1-2 in the 200-yard medley relay. The "A" team of Rocchi, Dix, Schulz, and Agnew posted a time of 1:38.98 - 15-hundredths of a second faster than the "B" foursome of junior
Corey Smith (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), freshman
Matt Marvin (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia), freshman
Jace Fry (Palmyra, Pa./Lower Dauphin), and Wyant.
Bauer and Dix finished 1-2 in the 500-yard freestyle with both posting PSAC marks in the event. Bauer swam the distance in 5:01.53 while Dix came in right behind at 5:01.56. Wyant earned the Huskies' next victory in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 28.87, just out-touching sophomore
Noah Cancro (Limerick, Pa./Spring-Ford) who posted a time of 28.89. Wyant won again in the 100-yard butterfly after touching the wall in 54.68.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Hummel earned his only individual victory with a time of 21.60 - four-tenths of a second faster than Fry who finished second. Both qualified for the conference championships with their swims. Fry and Hummel also qualified in the 100-yard freestyle as the duo finished second and third, respectively, in that event on Saturday. Smith followed with a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a PSAC mark of 53.44.
Rocchi won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.65 and earned the victory by nearly four seconds over Susquehanna's Tanner Kronski. Dix followed with a win in the 50-yard butterfly (23.39) and Wyant earned his third win of the day in the 100-yard individual medley (54.99).
The Huskies capped off the meet with a 1-2 finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The "A" foursome of Bauer, Baker, Reed, and Hummel posted a time of 1:29.04 while the "B" squad of Agnew, freshman
Carson Hilliard (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford), Cancro, and Dix was second in 1:29.10.
Bloomsburg will be back in action next Friday, November 2, and Saturday, November 3, when it heads to the northwest corner of the state to swim against Edinboro and Gannon, respectively.
