COMPLETE RESULTS
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's swimming team posted its first victory of the season on Saturday with a 174-69 win at Susquehanna University. Ten different swimmers had at least one win during the meet while nine Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying marks were hit throughout the course of the day.
Senior
Marykate Boylan (Edgemont, Pa./Penncrest) had an impressive day for the Huskies as she won a pair of individual races and was part of two relay-winning foursomes. Junior
Becca Cubbler (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) and freshman
Carlie Owens (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) each had two individual wins and one relay win. Sophomore
Kelley McHugh (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) was the other swimmer with multiple victories on the day as she won a pair of individual events.
The Huskies started with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay as the quartet of freshman
Liz Jackson (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley), Owens, Boylan, and Cubbler posted a time of 1:53.59 to win by exactly half a second over Susquehanna "A" team. In the first individual event of the day, junior
Kaitlyn Floyd (Mertztown, Pa./Kutztown) turned in a time of 5:31.62 in the 500-yard freestyle to win by nearly eight seconds over Susquehanna's Torie Morin.
McHugh won for the first time in the 200-yard freestyle with a PSAC qualifying mark of 1:58.90. Sophomore
Lindsay Mooney (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) also got in under the conference standard as she finished third with a time of 2:01.47. Boylan followed with a win in the 50-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 28.94. Owens then picked up her first individual victory with a time of 31.94 in the 50-yard breaststroke.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Cubbler posted a victory as she came in with a time of 1:01.44. Boylan followed with her third win of the day in the 50-yard freestyle after turning in a time of 24.99 to qualify for the conference championships. Mooney also qualified with a time of 25.45. Three more PSAC marks were hit in the 100-yard freestyle as the Huskies finished 1-2-3 in the event. Cubbler (54.62) won and was followed by Mooney (55.34) and junior
Kiera Wadsworth (Blakeslee, Pa./Ridley) (56.35).
McHugh won again in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.98 while Owens (1:08.93) and senior
Samantha Carpenter (Sunbury, Pa./Shamokin Area) (1:09.97) finished 1-2 with PSAC marks in the 100-yard breaststroke. Wadsworth then finished off the individual events with a victory in the 100-yard individual medley after touching the wall in 1:03.06.
Finally, in the 200-yard freestyle relay, the Huskies' team of Boylan, Carpenter, freshman
Elizabeth Turner (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley), and Mooney posted a time of 1:43.13 to close out the meet with the team's second relay victory of the day.
Bloomsburg will be back in action next Friday, November 2, and Saturday, November 3, when it heads to the northwest corner of the state to swim against Edinboro and Gannon, respectively.
