STORYLINE
The Huskies look to begin Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play on the road against regionally-ranked Edinboro and and both regionally and nationally-ranked Mercyhurst.
ALL-TIME SERIES
This will be the 20
th all-time meeting between Bloomsburg and Edinboro. The Huskies hold a 12-7 lead in the series.
This will be the 30
th all-time meeting between Bloomsburg and Mercyhurst. BU holds a 15-14 lead in the series.
LAST MEETING
Edinboro defeated Bloomsburg 8-1 in the last meeting between the two teams back on Apr. 8, 2017 in Bloomsburg.
Pedro Andari (Mogi dos Cruzes, Brazil/Santa Monica) earned the lone win for BU at No. 6 singles 2-6, 6-4, 10-6 over Thomas McCoy.
The next day (Apr. 9, 2017), Mercyhurst defeated Bloomsburg 8-1 in PSAC play.
LAST TIME OUT
Bloomsburg won its last match over Spring Break against Ithaca 6-3 back on Mar. 15. Bloomsburg fell behind 2-1 after doubles play but was able to rebound in singles and win five of six matches.
Lucas Pedrotti (Caxias do Sul, Brazil/Sao Jose) and
Nagid Walle (Nassau, Bahamas/Saint Andrews (Fla.)) dropped an 8-4 contest at No. 1 doubles, while
Bernardo Abreu (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and
Rafael Rufato (Sao Paulo, Brazil/OCEU Positivo) fell at No. 2 8-3. The tandem of
Guillermo Carranza (Sevilla, Spain/Colegio Hispalense) and
Robin Luetzig (Hadamar, Germany/FJLS) captured the lone doubles win at No. 3 with an 8-4 victory over Sam McGrath and Garrett Boleslav. Pedrotti began singles play with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Minos Stavrakas, while Abreu dropped his match at No. 2 6-4, 3-6, 10-6. Walle picked up a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 3 over Colton Lavery, while Carranza earned a 6-0 6-1 win at No. 4 over Max Prestwich.
Benjamin Tauber (Bethlehem, Pa./Nazareth Area) earned an identical 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5 over Liam Spiegel, before Luetzig closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win over George Lomas.
Edinboro fell to Northwood University 6-2 back on Mar. 16 in Hilton Head, S.C. in their last action.
Mercyhurst won their last match with a clean 9-0 sweep over Roberts Wesleyan back on Mar. 18. The tandem of Nenad Terzic and Mormac McCooey won at No. 1 doubles 8-2, before Ruairidh Fraser and Unia Amilleta Gonzalez won at No. 2 doubles 8-3. Arseniy Sklyarov and Luka Veselic finished off doubles play with an 8-4 victory at No. 3. In singles play, Terzic began with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 1, before Fraser won at No. 2 5-7, 6-2, 13-11. McCooey won in straight sets 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4, while Gonzalez won at No. 4 6-4, 6-4. Sebastian Pardo swept in straight sets 6-1, 6-1, while Veselic finished off the match with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 6.
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
The Huskies come in with a 10-15 combined double record and a 26-28 combined singles record. The tandems of Pedrotti and Walle and Abreu and Carranza each have four doubles wins on the season, while Luetzig and
Vinicius Ribeiro de Camargo (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Reino Anglo) and Carranza and Luetzig each have one win in doubles play. Carranza and Pedrotti share the team lead in singles wins with five, while Tauber and Luetzig each have four. Abreu and Walle each have three wins in singles play this season, along with de Camargo and Rufato having one each.
SCOUTING EDINBORO
The Fighting Scots were ranked fourth in the last Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic Region rankings back in January. Vitor Albanese and doubles partner Daniel Fernandez were also ranked No. 11 in the latest ITA national doubles rankings. Edinboro has a combined 37-17 doubles record, as well as a 51-47 singles record. Albanese and Fernandez own a 14-2 record in doubles, being the only doubles pair with double-digit wins. The tandem of Thomas McCoy and Mauricio Santos is second on the team in doubles wins with five. Albanese also leads the team in singles wins with 14, while Fernandez is second on the team with nine wins in singles play.
SCOUTING MERCYHURST
The Lakers are ranked No. 49 in the latest ITA national top 50. Mercyhurst is also ranked third in the last ITA Atlantic Region rankings back in January. The Lakers have a combined 27-14 record in doubles play and a 66-20 mark in singles play. The tandem of McCooey and Terzic leads the team with a 7-2 mark, while Fraser and Gonzalez have six wins in doubles play. In singles play, three Lakers have double-digit wins on the season. Fraser has a team-high 14, while McCooey has totaled 11. Terzic has 10 wins on the season, while two other Pardo and Veselic each have nine singles wins on the year.

The Huskies will return home for another PSAC contest when they host Millersville next Friday (Mar. 30). The action is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Burt Reese Tennis Center.
