BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team earned its first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) win on Friday (Mar. 30), defeating Millersville 7-2 at the Burt Reese Tennis Center.
Bloomsburg won two out of three doubles matches, before winning five out of six singles matches.
Lucas Pedrotti (Caxias do Sul, Brazil/Sao Jose) and
Nagid Walle (Nassau, Bahamas/Saint Andrews (Fla.)) defeated Ben Fellman and Jose Alcazar 8-5 at No. 1 doubles, while
Bernardo Abreu (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and
Rafael Rufato (Sao Paulo, Brazil/OCEU Positivo) dropped their No. 2 doubles match 8-4.
Guillermo Carranza (Sevilla, Spain/Colegio Hispalense) and
Robin Luetzig (Hadamar, Germany/FJLS) combined to shut out Andy Beer and Matt Hidalgo 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Pedrotti defeated Landis 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 before Abreu dropped his No. 2 singles match 7-5, 6-2. Bloomsburg swept singles No. 3 through No. 6, starting with a 6-2, 6-1 win by Walle over Alcazar at No. 3. Carranza earned the 6-1, 6-1 win over Christian Akerley at No. 4, before
Benjamin Tauber (Bethlehem, Pa./Nazareth Area) earned an identical 6-1, 6-1 win over Brandon Miller at No. 5. Luetzig shut out Erich Nagel at No. 6 6-0, 6-0 to close out the match.
The win moves the Huskies to 3-6 and 1-2 in the PSAC, while Millersville falls to 1-11 and 0-3 in conference.
The Huskies are back at the Burt Reese Tennis Center on Saturday (Mar. 31) when they take on West Chester in conference play. The action is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m.
