BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team evened up its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) record with a 7-2 win over West Chester on Saturday (Mar. 31) at the Burt Reese Tennis Center.
The Huskies won two out of three doubles matches and five out of six singles matches for the victory.
Lucas Pedrotti (Caxias do Sul, Brazil/Sao Jose) and
Nagid Walle (Nassau, Bahamas/Saint Andrews (Fla.)) began doubles play with a 9-8 win over Lucas Von der Heyde and Charlie Rushing, before
Bernardo Abreu (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and
Rafael Rufato (Sao Paulo, Brazil/OCEU Positivo) dropped the No. 2 doubles match 8-6.
Guillermo Carranza (Sevilla, Spain/Colegio Hispalense) and
Robin Luetzig (Hadamar, Germany/FJLS) won at No. 3 doubles 8-1 over Lucien DeCecco and Gavin Kenny.
Pedrotti would drop a hard-fought singles match at No. 1 2-6, 6-1,4-6 before Abreu would win in three sets over Von der Heyde at No. 2 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Walle defeated Rushing 6-4, 6-1 at No.3 while Carranza won over Adam Courtemanche at No. 4 6-0, 6-1.
Benjamin Tauber (Bethlehem, Pa./Nazareth Area) captured a 6-3, 6-1 win over Aidan Henken at No. 5, before Luetzig closed things out at No. 6 with a 6-3, 6-1 win over DeCecco.
The win moves Bloomsburg to 4-6 and 2-2 in the PSAC, while West Chester falls to 0-9 and 0-1 in conference.
The Huskies are back in action on Apr. 10 when they host Kutztown in conference action. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m. at the Burt Reese Tennis Center.
