STORYLINE
The Huskies look to notch some dual wins for the season on their Spring Break trip to Orlando, Fla.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Bloomsburg and Bentley have met one time previously. Bentley holds the 1-0 series lead.
Bloomsburg and St. Thomas Aquinas have met four times previously, with each team winning twice. The series is tied 2-2.
This will be the first ever meeting between Bloomsburg and Dallas Baptist.
This will be the sixth all-time meeting between Bloomsburg and Ithaca, with Bloomsburg holding a 3-2 series lead.
LAST MEETING
Bentley got the 5-2 win in the last meeting between the two teams during the 2005-06 season.
The Spartans defeated Bloomsburg 5-4 last season on Mar. 12, 2017. The Huskies won two out of three doubles matches, before winning only two of six singles matches.
Gerard Puig (Sabadell, Spain/Jaume Viladoms) and
Steve Williams (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) picked up an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles, before
Leonardo Nakasone (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Enig) and
Pedro Andari (Mogi dos Cruzes, Brazil/Santa Monica) won 9-8 (8-6) at No. 3 doubles. Williams (No. 5, 6-2, 3-6, 10-5) and Andari (No. 6, 6-2, 6-3) were the winners in singles for BU.
Ithaca defeated Bloomsburg 5-4 in their last meeting on Mar. 16, 2017. The Huskies won one of three doubles matches, before winning three of six singles matches. Nakasone and Andari earned an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles, before Puig won a 6-7 (6), 6-4, 10-8 thriller at No.2 singles.
Henrique Conrado Stemmer (Ponta Grossa, Brazil/) earned a 7-6 (4), 6-1 win at No. 3 singles, before Williams won in straight sets at No. 5 singles 6-3, 6-3.
LAST TIME OUT
Bloomsburg dropped their Spring season opener back on Feb. 17 at Jefferson by a score of 7-2. Bloomsburg won one of the three doubles matches, with the tandem of
Guillermo Carranza (Sevilla, Spain/Colegio Hispalense) and
Bernardo Abreu (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) defeating Liviu Trifoi and Joao Pedro Marcal 9-7 at No. 2 doubles.
Benjamin Tauber (Bethlehem, Pa./Nazareth Area) earned the lone singles win for the Huskies, defeating James Pollard in straight sets (6-3, 6-4) at No. 6 singles.
Bentley swept Cedarville 9-0 back on Mar. 6. Brendan McCarthy and George Samander earned an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles, while Michael Fuca and Dylan Granat won at No. 2 doubles 8-5. Connor Aulson and Daniel Weitz closed out doubles play with an 8-2 win at No. 3. McCarthy began singles play with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1, while Samander earned a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles. Weitz won at No. 3 6-3, 6-3, while Aulson won at No. 4 6-0, 6-1. Kendall Au swept No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-0, while Nicholas Hatcher win at No. 6 with a 6-3, 6-1 victory.
St. Thomas Aquinas lost their last match to Stonehill 5-4 back on Feb. 18.
Dallas Baptist defeated Southwestern College 6-3 back on Mar. 3. The Patriots swept doubles play, beginning with an 8-2 win at No. 1 from Cannon Jones and Nick Gilmore. Nathan Torres and Riley Smith won at No. 2 doubles 8-4, while Gabe Garrido and Josh Williams closed out doubles play with an 8-1 win. Dallas Baptist and Southwestern would split the six singles matches. Gilmore earned a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 2, while Smith earned a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 4. Williams would win at No. 6 6-3, 6-2.
Ithaca defeated Union College 6-3 back on Mar. 3. The Bombers won two of three doubles matches and four of six singles matches to get the victory. Sam McGrath and Lorenzo Viguie-Ramos earned a 9-7 win at No. 1 doubles, before Max Prestwich and Liam Spiegel earned an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles. In singles play, Ithaca swept No. 1 through No. 3 starting with a 6-0, 6-1 win from Minos Stavrakas. McGrath won at No. 2 singles by an identical 6-0, 6-1 score, before Colten Lavery gutted out a 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 7-5 win at No. 3 singles. Vigui-Ramos closed out the match with a 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (9-7) win at No. 6 singles.
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
The Huskies have totaled a 6-4 doubles record on the season along with a 12-12 singles record.
Bernardo Abreu (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and
Guillermo Carranza (Sevilla, Spain/Colegio Hispalense) are a perfect 3-0 in doubles play this season, while
Lucas Pedrotti (Caxias do Sul, Brazil/Sao Jose) and
Nagid Walle (Nassau, Bahamas/Saint Andrews (Fla.)) are 2-2 as a team.
Robin Luetzig (Hadamar, Germany/FJLS) and
Vinicius Ribeiro de Camargo (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Reino Anglo) also have one win in doubles play. In singles play, four different men have two wins apiece, while another four have one win each.
SCOUTING BENTLEY
The Falcons have compiled a 16-11 record in doubles play this season, along with a 32-22 record in singles play. The tandem of McCarthy and Samander is a team-best 5-3 on the season, while Au and Hatcher own a 4-2 record as a team. Five other doubles tandems have at least one win on the season.
SCOUTING ITHACA
The Bombers have played to a 14-11 doubles record so far this season, along with a 28-29 singles record. The team of Prestwich and Spiegel is 5-2 on the season, while nine other doubles tandems have one win apiece on the season. Viguie-Ramos is a team-high 5-2 in singles play, while three men have four wins each on the season. Five other men have at least one win in singles play on the season.
