STORYLINE
The Huskies look to get back on track with a pair of non-conference matches at home this weekend when they host Jefferson (formerly Philadelphia University) on Friday (Apr. 13) and Virginia State on Saturday (Apr. 14).
ALL-TIME SERIES
This will be the seventh all-time meeting between Bloomsburg and Jefferson. Jefferson leads the all-time series 4-2.
This will be the first ever meeting between Bloomsburg and Virginia State.
LAST MEETING
Jefferson defeated Bloomsburg 7-2 back on Feb. 17. Bloomsburg won one of the three doubles matches, with the tandem of
Guillermo Carranza (Sevilla, Spain/Colegio Hispalense) and
Bernardo Abreu (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) defeating Liviu Trifoi and Joao Pedro Marcal 9-7 at No. 2 doubles.
Benjamin Tauber (Bethlehem, Pa./Nazareth Area) earned the lone singles win for the Huskies, defeating James Pollard in straight sets (6-3, 6-4) at No. 6 singles.
LAST TIME OUT
The Huskies dropped their last match to Kutztown 5-4 back on Tuesday (Apr. 10). The Huskies won two out of three doubles matches to start the afternoon before winning two out of six singles matches.
Lucas Pedrotti (Caxias do Sul, Brazil/Sao Jose) and
Nagid Walle (Nassau, Bahamas/Saint Andrews (Fla.)) opened up doubles play with an 8-4 win at No. 1 over Gabriel Nogara Souza and Nikolay Kodinov, before
Guillermo Carranza (Sevilla, Spain/Colegio Hispalense) and
Robin Luetzig (Hadamar, Germany/FJLS) fell at No. 2 doubles 8-6.
Bernardo Abreu (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and
Benjamin Tauber (Bethlehem, Pa./Nazareth Area) wrapped up doubles play with a 9-8 (6) win at No. 3 to put the Huskies up 2-1 heading to singles play. Pedrotti won his singles match at No. 1 over Martin Munoz 7-6, 4-6, 6-2 before Abreu dropped a three-set contest at No. 2 singles 1-6, 2-6, 6-4. Walle fell at No. 3 singles 6-4, 6-3 before Carranza won at No. 4 singles 7-5, 6-0. Tauber fell in a tight 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 match at No. 5 singles, before Luetzig dropped a 3-6, 6-0, 6-0 bout at No. 6 singles.
Jefferson defeated University of the Sciences 8-1 back on Wednesday (Apr. 11) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action. The Rams won two out of three doubles matches before sweeping all six singles matches. Oskar Haedicke and Luis Molina Megias fell at No. 1 doubles 8-6, before Jacobo Atri and Joseph Sison won at No. 2 8-2. Trifoi and Joao Pedro Molina Marcal won at No. 3 doubles 8-1. In singles play, Haedicke began competition with a 4-6, 7-5, 10-7 win at No. 1, before Trifoi won at No. 2 in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. Luis Molina Megias won at No. 3 singles in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 before Marcal won in two sets at No. 4 6-3, 6-2. Atri No. 5, 6-1, 6-2) and Sison (No. 6, 6-4, 6-2) closed out the match with straight-set singles wins.
Virginia State defeated Shepherd 5-4 back on Mar. 31 in non-conference action. The Trojans won one out of three doubles matches, before taking four out of six singles matches. Marcus smith and Sultan Kenes fell at No. 1 doubles 8-4, before Jonathan Fuchs and Josh McFadden won at No. 2 8-5. Keon Halley and Alexzander Walker lost at No. 3 doubles 8-0. Smith fell at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-1 before Kenes won at No. 2 6-2, 6-0. Fuchs won at No. 3 singles in straight sets 6-2, 6-0 before McFadden won by default after winning the first set 6-2. Halley fell at No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-3 before Walker closed out the match with a 7-6, 7-5 win at No. 6.
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
The Huskies own a 17-23 combined doubles record on the year along with a 39-45 singles record. Pedrotti and Walle lead the effort with seven doubles wins, while Abreu and Carranza as well as Carranza and Luetzig each having four doubles wins on the season. Luetzig and
Vinicius Ribeiro de Camargo (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Reino Anglo) as well as Abreu and Tauber each have one win in doubles competition. Carranza's eight singles wins lead the team, while Pedrotti and Tauber each have seven singles wins. Luetzig has six singles wins on the year, while Walle has five singles wins on the year. Abreu has four singles wins on the season, while de Camargo and Rufato each have one win on the year.
SCOUTING JEFFERSON
The Rams come into the matchup with a 21-17 combined doubles record as well as a 35-44 combined singles record. The tandem of Atri and Sison has a team-high four doubles wins on the season, while Megias and Trifoi and Haedicke and Megias have three wins each in doubles play. Haedicke and Marcal have two wins as a team, while Megias and Pollard have one doubles win as a team. Megias and Trifoi lead the team in singles wins with seven, while Haedicke has six and Marcal and Sison each have five. Atri has four, while Cesar Solis also has one on the year.
SCOUTING VIRGINIA STATE
The Trojans own a combined 11-13 doubles record on the year as well as a 22-26 singles record.
