STORYLINE
Bloomsburg will host the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Team Championships this weekend (Apr. 20-21) as the No. 4 seed in the tournament. Bloomsburg will face top seed Mercyhurst while No. 2 Edinboro will take on No. 3 Kutztown. 
 
ALL-TIME SERIES
This will be the 31st all-time meeting between Bloomsburg and Mercyhurst. The series is tied 15-15. 
 
LAST YEAR AT THE PSAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
No. 2 Mercyhurst ousted Bloomsburg 5-1 in the semifinals of last year's PSAC Team Championships on Apr. 21, 2017. 
 
LAST MEETING WITH MERCYHURST
Then No. 49 Mercyhurst blanked Bloomsburg 9-0 back on Mar. 24 in conference action, sweeping three doubles matches and all six singles matches. In doubles, Lucas Pedrotti (Caxias do Sul, Brazil/Sao Jose) and Nagid Walle (Nassau, Bahamas/Saint Andrews (Fla.)) fell at No. 1 8-2, while Bernardo Abreu (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and Rafael Rufato (Sao Paulo, Brazil/OCEU Positivo) fell 8-3 at No. 2. Guillermo Carranza (Sevilla, Spain/Colegio Hispalense) and Robin Luetzig (Hadamar, Germany/FJLS) fell at No. 3 8-2 as well. In singles play, Pedrotti fell at No. 1 7-6 (5), 6-4 before Abreu lost his No. 2 match 6-0, 6-1. Walle fell at No. 3 6-3, 6-2, before Carranza lost 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4. Benjamin Tauber (Bethlehem, Pa./Nazareth Area) fell at No. 5 6-2, 6-3, before Luetzig lost at No. 6 by an identical score. 
 
LAST TIME OUT
Bloomsburg defeated Virginia State 8-1 back on Saturday (Apr. 14) in their last action. The Huskies swept all three doubles matches before taking five out of six singles matches. Pedrotti and Abreu defeated Marcus Smith and Sultan Kenes 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, before Carranza and Walle won at No. 2 doubles 8-5 over Jonathan Fuchs and Josh McFadden. Luetzig and Vinicius Ribeiro de Camargo (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Reino Anglo) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 victory at No. 4 over Keon Halley and Alexzander Walker. In singles play, Pedrotti downed Smith 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1, while Abreu dropped his No. 2 singles match 6-3, 6-1. Walle earned his second win of the day over Fuchs with a 6-2, 6-4 mark at No. 3, while Carranza won over McFadden 7-5, 6-2 at No. 4.  Tauber defeated Halley in straight sets 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5, before Luetzig closed out the match with an identical 6-1, 6-0 win over Walker at No. 6. 
 
Edinboro fell in conference play against Mercyhurst 6-3 back on Apr. 10, winning two out of three doubles matches before Mercyhurst would win five out of six singles matches. Vitor Albanese and Daniel Fernandez defeated Nenad Terzic and Cormac McCooey 8-6 at No. 1 doubles, before Mateus Santos and Christian Roetteger fell at No. 2 doubles 8-4. Mauricio Santos and Kevin Mboko ended doubles play with a 9-7 victory over Arseniy Sklyarov and Luka Veselc. Albanese defeated Terzic 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, before Fernandez fell 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 at No. 2. Mateus Santos fell at No. 3 6-1, 6-0, before Mauricio Santos dropped his No. 4 match 6-4, 6-2. Mboko lost at No. 5 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 before Thomas McCoy dropped his No. 6 match 6-2, 6-3. 
 
Kutztown defeated Harford County Community College 5-4 on Wednesday (Apr. 18) in non-conference action for Senior Day. Kutztown was swept in doubles play before winning five out of six singles matches to earn the come-from-behind win. Nikolay Kodinov and Gabriel Nogara Souza fell at No. 1 doubles 8-5, before Martin Munoz and David Nunez Contrereas lost at No. 2 doubles 8-3. Benjamin Kelly and Joan Oliver Perez fell at No. 3 doubles 9-7 for Harford C.C. to get the sweep. Munoz rebounded at No. 1 singles with a 3-6, 6-2, 11-9 victory at No. 1, before Kodinov won at No. 2 singles 7-6, 6-7, 10-8. Josh Carl won in straight sets at No. 3 singles 6-3, 6-3, before Souza captured a 6-4, 3-6, 11-9 win at No. 4. Jason Listmeier won in three sets at No. 5 singles 3-6, 6-2, 13-11 before Contreras dropped his No. 6 singles match 6-3, 6-4. 
 
Mercyhurst was edged by No. 17 and the top-ranked team in the Atlantic region Bluefield State 5-4 back on Apr. 15. Bluefield State swept doubles play before Mercyhurst won four out of six singles matches, but Bluefield State captured two singles wins to get the victory. Terzic and McCooey lost at No. 1 doubles 9-8 (7-2), before Ruaridh Fraser and Unai Amilleta Gonzalez fell at No. 2 8-2. Sklyarov and Veselic also fell at No. 3 doubles 8-5. Mercyhurst captured No. 1 through No. 4 in singles play to get back in the match, before Bluefield State got the final two victories to secure the win. Terzic won a No. 1 6-3, 6-4, before Fraser won at No. 2 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7-3). McCooey won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3 before Gonzalez won at No. 4 6-0, 3-6, 6-3. Sebastian Pardo fell at No. 5 6-0, 4-6, 7-5 before Mercyhurst dropped the final match at No. 6. 
 
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
The Huskies own a 20-26 combined doubles record and a 46-50 combined singles record on the year. The team of Pedrotti and Walle leads the team in doubles play with seven wins, while Abreu and Carranza along with Carranza and Luetzig each have four doubles wins on the year. Luetzig and de Camargo have two wins in doubles play as a team, while three other doubles tandems have one win each. In singles play, Carranza and Tauber share the team lead with nine wins each while Pedrotti has eight singles wins on the year. Luetzig has seven singles wins on the year, while Walle has six and Abreu has vie. De Camargo and Rufato also each have one singles win on the year. 
 
SCOUTING EDINBORO
The Fighting Scots own a 48-30 overall doubles record along with a 71-67 combined singles record on the year. Albanese and Fernandez are ranked No. 22 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Assocation (ITA) national doubles rankings and lead the team in doubles wins with 15. Fernandez and Mboko as a team and also Albanese and Mateus Santos each have seven doubles wins, while McCoy and Mauricio Santos have six doubles wins on the year. Two other doubles pairs have three wins on the year, another two tandems have two wins on the year and another two doubles pairs each have one win in doubles play on the year. Albanese is the team's lead in singles win with 22 wins, while Mboko has 14 wins in singles play and Fernandez has 11 wins. Mateus and Mauricio Santos each have eight singles wins, while McCoy has five wins. Roettger has two singles wins on the year while Dishon Brooks also has one singles win on the year. 
 
SCOUTING KUTZTOWN
The Golden Bears come into the tournament with a 20-20 doubles record as well as a 49-32 combined singles record. The team of Carl and Nolan Perguini leads the team with six doubles wins, while Kodinov and Souza have five doubles wins as a team. Contreras and Munoz have three wins in doubles play, while six other doubles tandems have one win in doubles play on the year. Carl shares the team lead in singles wins (nine) with Perguini and Souza, while Munoz is second on the team with seven wins. Kodinov has six singles wins, along with five from Perez. Listmeier also has four singles wins on the year. 
 
SCOUTING MERCYHURST
The Lakers come into the championships with a 43-16 doubles record along with a 100-22 combined record in singles play. McCooey and Terzic along with Fraser and Gonzalez each have 12 doubles wins on the year, while Sklyarov and Veselic have 10 doubles wins on the year. Gonzalez and Terzic as a doubles tandem have four wins, while Fraser and McCooey have two wins along with one win each from two other doubles teams. Fraser leads the Lakers in doubles play with 20 wins, while McCooey has 17 wins and Pardo and Veselic each have 15 wins. Gonzalez and Terzic each have 14 wins in singles play, while Sklyarov has four wins and Dusan Cerny also has one.
