Men's Tennis Wraps Up Home Invitational Sunday Afternoon

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team wrapped up its opening weekend of the season on Sunday by completing day two of its home invitational at the Burt Reese Tennis Center. The Huskies competed in doubles action against Ithaca College on Sunday morning and then ended play with singles competition against Wilkes University.

The Huskies swept the Bombers in doubles competition, winning all four matches during the morning session. Sophomores Lucas Pedrotti (Caxias do Sul, Brazil/Sao Jose) and Bernardo Abreu (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Rogedo) teamed up for the most lopsided victory, earning an 8-3 win at #1 doubles over Ithaca's duo of Michael Gardiner and Minos Stavrakas. Sophomores Robin Luetzig (Hadamar, Germany/Furst Johann Ludwig Schule) and Benjamin Tauber (Bethlehem, Pa./Nazareth Area) earned an 8-4 victory at #3 while sophomores Nagid Walle (Willemstad, Curacao/Saint Andrews (Fla.)) and Guille Carranza (Sevilla, Spain/Escolapios) posted an 8-5 win at #2.

Sophomore Vinny De Camargo (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Servico Social da Industria) and freshman Quin Bucheit (Shoemakersville, Pa./Hamburg) collected the final win of the morning, needing a tiebreaker at #4 before taking care of Ithaca's Jon Tuerk and Stefan Lazarevic, 8-7 (7-5).

After Ithaca and Wilkes met in singles play, the Huskies went back to work against the Colonels in singles action. Bloomsburg went on to win seven of the nine matches during the afternoon. Tauber, Abreu, Carranza, Walle, Luetzig, and De Camargo each won in straight sets while Pedrotti went to a third set against Courtney Murphy before earning a hard fought 6-1, 4-6, 10-7 victory at #1 singles.

Bloomsburg will be off until hosting the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Singles and Doubles Championships at the Burt Reese Tennis Center on Saturday, September 29 and Sunday, September 30.
