Box Score BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team picked up its first victory of the fall campaign on Saturday as the Huskies edged visiting Davis & Elkins College, 4-3, at the Burt Reese Tennis Center. Bloomsburg evened its record at 1-1 on the year while the Senators dropped to 1-2 in the final match of the fall season for both teams.

The teams split the six singles matches down the middle but it was the doubles point that proved to be the difference for the Huskies. "We've been working extremely hard on doubles," said head coach Rebecca Helt. "Today, the worked paid off as it was the deciding point."

Bloomsburg swept the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 advantage heading into singles. Freshmen Scott Redmond () and Jorge Barra (Sintra, Portugal/Carlucci American International School of Lisbon) started with a 6-3 victory at #3 with juniors Nagid Walle (Willemstad, Curacao/Saint Andrews (Fla.)) and Robin Luetzig (Hadamar, Germany/Furst Johann Ludwig Schule) teaming up for a 6-2 win at #1 to secure the doubles point. Sophomore Oliver Wiesemann (Jena, Germany/Colegio Alemán de Málaga (Spain)) and junior Guille Carranza (Sevilla, Spain/Colegio Calasancio Hispalense) finished off the sweep with a 6-4 win at #2.

Redmond extended the Huskies' lead to 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-0 win at #5 singles over Hussain Hamide before the Senators got on the board when Alejandro Meseguer earned a 6-2, 6-4 win over Wiesemann at #2. Barra regained a two-point lead with a 6-4, 6-2 win at #6 over Cody Turner and then Luetzig secured the Huskies' win with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Alvaro Legoinha at #3.

The Senators earned a three-set win at #1 and the #4 singles match was also in a third set before Carranza retired.

The Huskies are scheduled to open the spring season with its annual trip to Orlando, Florida, in early March.
