Story Line

The #6 Huskies and West Chester will meet for the third time this season on Tuesday. The Huskies won the first meeting, 2-0, at Steph Pettit Stadium, while the Golden Rams and Huskies tied 0-0 in double overtime in the last meeting of the regular season. Bloomsburg is coming off a 2-0 win over Millersville last Saturday in which the Huskies clinched the top seed in the tournament. West Chester fell to Kutztown in the regular season finale, 2-0, on Saturday and earned the No. 4 seed in the East.

Scouting Bloomsburg

The #6 Huskies enter Tuesday's contest with an 16-1-1 overall record and ended their Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East schedule with a 14-1-1 record and the No. 1 seed in the 2019 PSAC Women's Soccer Tournament. Bloomsburg had the second-best scoring offense in the conference as the Huskies average 2.56 goals per game, only Slippery Rock is ahead of them with 2.83 goals per game this season. Leading the Bloomsburg offense is junior Lauren Hoelke. Hoelke has 10 goals and nine assists for the year and is fifth in goal scoring in the PSAC. Hoelke leads the conference with nine assists and is fifth in points (29). Hoelke has three game-winning goals and has gone 4-4 on penalty kicks this year. Right on her heels is sophomore Nicole Varano with nine goals and an assist this year. Varanao is second in the conference and leads the team with five game-winning goals. As a team, Bloomsburg has 14 different players record at least one goal this season and 17 have found their way to the stat sheet with at least one point. Bloomsburg has outscored opponents 46-5 for the year and out-shot teams 367-145. The Huskies have scored the first goal of the game in 14 of their 18 contests. 

Defensively, Bloomsburg is at the top of the conference with a 0.27 goals against average and is currently third in the country. The Husky goalies have combined for a 0.923 save percentage, tops in all of DII women's soccer. Redshirt junior Jenna Hawkins leads that defense with a 0.28 GAA and a 0.918 save percentage. Hawkins has 11 solo shutouts for the season, tops in the PSAC and fourth in the country, and has 30 in her career as a Husky. Bloomsburg has shutout its opponent 13 times this season and the Huskies defense is riding a 605:26 minute streak of scoreless soccer going into Tuesday's contest.

Scouting West Chester

The Golden Rams come into Tuesday's contest with an 11-4-2 overall record and finished PSAC East play with a 10-4-2 record. West Chester is coming off a 2-0 loss to Kutztown to end the regular season and earn the No. 4 seed in the East. West Chester is seventh in the conference in scoring as the Golden Rams average 2.24 goals per game this season. Leading the Golden Ram offense is Hannah Zach with 10 goals an assisted, tied for fifth in goals in the conference and ninth in scoring with 21 points (1.24/game). Dani Cady has four assists on the season for the Golden Rams while Jenny Bail has a team-best three game-winning goals. Defensively, West Chester is sixth in the league with a 1.00 team GAA and has a 0.712 save percentage. Brooke Myers has started 15 games for the Golden Rams and boasts a 1.02 GAA and a .712 save percentage for the year. Myers is responsible for four solo shutouts and one shared with Emily Helmich.
