BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - Senior goalkeeper Samantha Merklin (Effort, Pa./Pleasant Valley) adds to her array of honors with the Huskies as part of the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Atlantic All-Region team announced Tuesday afternoon. The D2CCA all-region teams are voted on by sports information directors in their respective regions.
Merklin earned second-team distinction in her second season defending the net for Bloomsburg. In her two seasons with the Huskies, Merklin amassed a record of 19-12-7 with 14.5 shutouts. The shutout mark is the ninth-most among goalkeepers in program history. The senior in her 38 games played with Bloomsburg has made 182 saves at a clip of .847 with a goals against average of .89. In her entire collegiate career, 68 career games, Merklin has made 388 stops, an average of 5.71 per contest in almost 5931 career minutes.
Merklin's second season at Bloomsburg maintain tremendous form. The goalkeeper finished the season with 86 saves in 19 matches for a clip of 4.53 per match, leading to a .811 save percentage and a 1.10 goals against average. The senior ended the season with five indiviudal shutouts and one combined clean sheets. The goalkeeper helped the Huskies to a 10-7-2 record and the team's return to the NCAA Championship field for the first time since 2022. Merklin additionally received second-team All-PSAC East honors and was the PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week twice in 2025.
