COMPLETE ALL-PSAC TEAMS
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - Junior libero
Alyssa Cianciulli (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) of the Bloomsburg University women's volleyball has been named to the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Second Team as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon. Cianciulli becomes the first player in the program's two-year history to earn a postseason accolade. The league's head coaches vote on all-conference teams and major award winners.
Cianciulli, who was named the PSAC Defensive Player of the Week three times during the year, led the conference in both total digs (748) and digs per set (6.50) during the 2019 campaign after finishing second in both categories during the program's inaugural year a season ago. Cianciulli also leads all of Division II in total digs with Central Oklahoma's Dominique Lipari trailing by 30 and Notre Dame College's Alexandra Kaeberlein behind by 37. Cianciulli's 6.50 digs per set rank second in the country to Lipari's 6.84.
The junior also contributed an even 100 assists on the year and was tops on the team with 37 service aces.
Cianciulli had two of the top-five totals in digs in the conference in three-set matches this season with a high of 30 in the Huskies' 3-0 win over Virginia Union on September 21. She also had the fourth-best total in a four-set match when she recorded 34 digs in a 3-1 win over Kutztown on November 15. Her 54 digs in the Huskies' 3-2 win against Slippery Rock on October 5 were also a program record and were the most digs in a single match in all of Division II this season. She also recorded 44 digs in a 3-2 victory over Felician on September 6, which was tied for the second-most digs in a five-set match in the country.
The junior recorded double digits in digs in 31 of the 32 matches this season and has posted more than ten digs in 59 of her 60 games in a Bloomsburg uniform over the first two seasons. She is Division II's career leader among active players in digs per set (6.63) during her Huskies' career.
She recorded the 1,000th dig of her Bloomsburg career at Gannon on September 28. In her two seasons with the Huskies, Cianciulli has totaled 1,393 digs and, coupled with her stats from her freshman season at Division I La Salle, has accumulated 1,617 total digs in three collegiate years.
Bloomsburg, which finished 10-22 overall in 2019, showed tremendous growth and improvement in year two as it reached double digits in victories by finishing with ten wins on the year - a four-win improvement from its inaugural season. The Huskies also finished second to East Stroudsburg in the PSAC Central Division with a 5-14 league mark - one win ahead of Kutztown and five victories more than Lock Haven. Bloomsburg went 2-16 against league opponents during its initial year.
