BLOOMSBURG, PA -
Guille Carranza (Sevilla, Spain/Escolapios) and
Nagid Walle (Willemstad, Curacao/Saint Andrews (Fla.)) earned a 6-3 victory at second doubles, but the Bloomsburg University men's tennis team was downed 4-0 by Fairleigh Dickinson Thrusday afternoon. The Huskies drop to 2-3 overall on the season with the loss, while the Knights improve to 6-8 on the year with the triumph.
Carranza and Walle were the lone victors on the day for Bloomsburg, defeating Moric Budinszky and Maciej Autuch 6-3 #2 doubles. Fairleigh Dickinson, would earn the doubles team point, however, as Mehdi Dhouib and Andris Gudins downed
Lucas Pedrotti (Caxias do Sul, Brazil/Sao Jose) and
Bernardo Abreu (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Rogedo) 6-4 at first doubles, and Ivan Solans Diaz and Eduardo Cabral defeated
Robin Luetzig (Hadamar, Germany/Furst Johann Ludwig Schule) and
Oliver Wiesemann (Jena, Germany/Colegio de La Asuncion Malaga) 6-2.
The Knights needed just three singles matches to clinch the team victory, as Gudins claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win over Carranza, Burdinszky defeated Wiesemann 6-3, 6-2, and Solans Diaz claimed a straight sets victory over
Benjamin Tauber (Bethlehem, Pa./Nazareth Area). Pedrotti and Abreu both split the first two sets at #1 and #3 singles, respectively, while Luetzig held a 2-0 lead over Cabral in the third set at #6 singles.
The Huskies return to action this Saturday at Millersville University. First serve with the Marauders is set for 1:00 p.m.
