STORYLINE
The Bloomsburg University women's soccer team will be searching for its fifth consecutive win on Saturday afternoon when it entertains Lock Haven at Steph Pettit Stadium. The Huskies, receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll, are 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division. The Bald Eagles, meanwhile, have only played four matches and are 1-2-1 overall and 1-2 in the division.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Bloomsburg holds a slight edge over Lock Haven, 11-10-4, in the all-time series. Last season, the Huskies took the lead in the series with a 2-0 home win over the Bald Eagles.
Kate Schlotter (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) scored her first career goal just 2:48 into the match and
Alex Burrows (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) added an insurance tally in the 65th minute for the Bloomsburg goals.
Jenna Hawkins (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood) stopped four shots for the shutout win.
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
The Huskies have won four straight and enter with six wins in their first seven matches of the season. Bloomsburg got some revenge on Wednesday evening with a 2-1 win at East Stroudsburg to even the season series against the Warriors.
Natalie Holmes (Laurel, Md./Archbishop Spalding) and
Mackenzie Gebhardt (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) had the goals for the Huskies with both coming in the opening 12 minutes of the match. Bloomsburg has outscored its opponents by a 17-3 margin in the opening seven matches of the year and has received goals from nine different players. Gebhardt,
Lauren Hoelke (Blackwood, N.J./Highland Regional), and
Nicole Varano (Mt. Carmel, Pa./Mt. Carmel) are tied for the team lead with three goals apiece. Hoelke has also added three assists for a team-high nine points on the year. Holmes and
Jamie Marsico (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) each have two goals.
Jessica Milligan (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) and
Christina Podpora (Elysburg, Pa./Southern Columbia) also have three assists on the year to tie Hoelke for the team lead in that category. The trio are tied for fourth in the PSAC in helpers. In goal,
Jenna Hawkins (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood) has played all but 31 minutes and is 6-1 with a 0.44 goals against average and an .880 save percentage. She is third in the PSAC in goals against average, fifth in save percentage, and is tied for fourth with three shutouts.
SCOUTING LOCK HAVEN
Lock Haven is 1-2-1 on the year and has not played since a 3-0 loss at #9 West Chester last Saturday, September 21. The Bald Eagles' only win came against Shippensburg, 1-0, on September 14 - which is also the only goal the team has scored to date. Their tie was a 0-0 stalemate against Mercyhurst to open the season. Taylor Moritz scored the goal against the Raiders while Gabbriele Edinger picked up the assist. Last year's PSAC Athlete of the Year - Marah Foltz - has been held off the scoresheet after scoring 17 goals and 39 points a season ago. Karly Trillhaase has played every minute in goal and is 1-2-1 with a 1.89 goals against average and a .704 save percentage.

The Huskies will be on the road next Wednesday, October 2, to battle the Golden Bears of Kutztown before returning home the following Wednesday, October 9, to host nationally-ranked West Chester in a PSAC East showdown beginning at 4:30 p.m.
