Box Score PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team opened the 2019 dual season on Sunday afternoon but dropped a 7-0 decision at Chestnut Hill College in a non-conference matchup. The dual was also the first in the Bloomsburg coaching career of
Rebecca Helt who was hired to take over both the men's and women's programs after the retirement of Marty Coyne. The Griffins improved to 2-0 on the year with the victory.
After losing the doubles point, the Huskies were swept in singles action with five of the six matches decided in straight, but competitive, sets. Junior
Nagid Walle (Willemstad, Curacao/Saint Andrews (Fla.)) won the first set of his match against Tom Pitchley at #1 singles, 6-4, but dropped the final two sets by the scores of 6-1 and 10-5 as the Griffins were able to complete the sweep.
Bloomsburg will host the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Singles and Doubles Championships next weekend at the Burt Reese Tennis Center. Action begins on Saturday, October 5, at 10:00 a.m. and will run through Monday, October 7.
