Get To Know BU Student-Athletes: Keira Flanagan

In this series, get to know members of our Pack at Bloomsburg University. Learn about their path to becoming a Husky student-athlete, their plans after graduation - all while having a little fun along the way. Today, we introduce Keira Flanagan (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) from the women's soccer team.

Keira Flanagan (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South), a redshirt sophomore, is a criminal justice major from Holland, Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the Huskies' roster, Flanagan played soccer and participated in track and field at Council Rock South. She was First Team All-League selection in 2017 and earned Second Team All-League honors in 2016. She also garnered the track and field team's Rookie of the Year honors. In the classroom, Flanagan was a recipient of Kiwanis Academic Excellence Scholarship and was a member of the honor roll throughout high school career.

Flanagan has been a member of the Huskies' women's soccer team that has won back-to-back Atlantic Regional titles. She is actively involved in ROTC, the Criminal Justice Society, Colleges Against Cancer, and the Leadership Enrichment Program. She was a recipient of the ROTC Enrollment Scholarship.

GET TO KNOW KEIRA
Q: When did you start playing soccer?
A: When I was four years old.

Q: What got you interested in playing soccer?
A: My dad played soccer in college and started coaching me when I was younger.

Q: Did you have any sports role models when you were growing up? Why him or her?
A: Sergio Aguero was a role model for me growing up. Despite being financially misfortunate, Aguero learned to play soccer at a young age and was coached by his dad to become the player he is today.

Q: How did you end up at Bloomsburg University? What attracted you to the school?
A: I ended up at Bloomsburg for several different reasons. After meeting the team and Coach Haney, I felt very welcomed and comfortable. Central Pennsylvania is also a beautiful place and the facilities at Bloomsburg were some of the nicest I had seen.

Q: What are your plans after you graduate?
A: After I graduate, I plan on continuing with the military. I'd like to focus on being a counterintelligence agent for the United States Army and then eventually become a United States Marshal.

Q: What advice would you give younger kids wanting to play soccer at the collegiate level?
A: Find a school that gives you the ability to have fun and allows you to continue to have love for the game.

A: Shrek

A: The Sea Señor
