COMPLETE DAY FOUR RESULTS
YORK, Pa. - Sophomore
Colton Schnars (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) won his first-ever Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) individual title as he won the 200-yard backstroke on the final night of the 2020 PSAC Championships at the Graham Aquatic Center. The Huskies, for the fifth consecutive year, finished second in the overall team standings - trailing only West Chester which won for the 22nd straight season.
Bloomsburg finished the four-day meet with a total of 691 points - 139 points behind the Golden Rams.
Schnars proved to be the Huskies' final PSAC champion of the meet as he posted a time of 1:48.45 to win the event by nearly three seconds over West Chester's Logan Brockway. Schnars just snuck into the A final during morning prelims as he posted the eighth-fastest mark of 1:54.04. Swimming in the outside lane in the evening finals, Schnars raced out to nearly a two-second advantage in the first 100 yards and then cruised to the easy victory. The time was 14-hundredths of a second behind his best time of the season - 1:48.31 - established at the Zippy Invitational. That time is currently on the bubble of getting into the NCAA Championships as he currently is ranked 35th in the country in the event.
Also scoring for the Huskies in the event were senior
Corey Smith (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) who placed third in the B final - 11th overall - with a time of 1:55.51. Freshman
Jimmy Greek (Garnet Valley/Garnet Valley) was right behind in 12th place as he touched the wall in 1:55.64.
Redshirt senior
Kyle Dix (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) took second in the 100-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 45.03. His previous best time of the year was 45.35 also at the Zippy Invitational. Junior
Collin Hummel (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) was third as he finished in 45.60 while senior
Jordan Wyant (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) placed fifth with a time of 45.98 giving the Huskies three of the top five finishers in the event. Sophomore
Pat Agnew (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) also competed in the A final and took eighth with a time of 46.82. Sophomore
Jace Fry (Palmyra, Pa./Lower Dauphin) competed in the B final and finished sixth in the race (14th overall) with a mark of 47.22.
The Huskies added five more point scorers in the 200-yard breaststroke with junior
Noah Cancro (Limerick, Pa./Spring-Ford) leading the way with a time of 2:08.03 for a fifth-place finish. Cancro had a sensational meet and was one of the unsung heroes for the Huskies over the course of the four days. He earned a PSAC title in the 400-yard medley relay, finished in the top three in two other relay events, and placed in the top six in four different individual events. Sophomore
Nicholas Madey (Pittsburgh, Pa./Avonworth) was seventh in a time of 2:10.80 while freshman
Blake Nesbitt (Wind Gap, PA/Nazareth) was eighth as he finished in 2:11.10.
Another unsung hero for the Huskies was junior
Chris Gleason (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) who wrapped up a tremendous four days by placing fourth in the B final (12th overall) of the 200-yard breaststroke with an evening time of 2:08.80. Sophomore
Cameron Junk (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) rounded out the Huskies' scorers in the event as he was seventh in the B final (15th overall) with a time of 2:12.57.
Freshmen
Luke Scoboria (Birdsboro, PA/Exeter) and
Ryan Keenan (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) started off the evening by placing 12th and 13th overall, respectively, in the 1650-yard freestyle. Scoboria completed the race in 16:42.10 while Keenan touched the wall in 16:43.57.
In the final event of the night, the Huskies' 400-yard freestyle relay team of Wyant, Fry, Agnew, and Cancro placed third overall with a time of 3:04.64.
The Huskies are hopeful to have several swimmers advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships with the official announcement for all of the invitees coming in the next few days. The national championships will be held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, beginning on Wednesday, March 11 and will run through Saturday, March 14.
