BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Graduate student
Natalie Holmes (Laurel, Md./Archbishop Spalding) of the Bloomsburg University women's soccer team has been named to the 2021 Academic All-District ® First Team, as announced, and selected by, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Holmes' selection marks the second-straight year a women's soccer program member has earned the honors and is the first of her career.
This season, Holmes adds to her already impressive resume as she was recently named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Defensive Player of the Year and earned All-PSAC East First Team honors.
This season, Holmes has anchored a Bloomsburg defense that is currently boasting the sixth-best goals-against average in NCAA DII as well as leading the conference at 0.41. The Huskies' defense has allowed just eight goals this season and is limiting opponents to 96 shots, 43 on goal. The BU defense has not allowed a penalty kick this season.
Offensively, Holmes leads the team with five goals and four assists so far. She is a perfect 3-for-3 on penalty kicks and has one game-winning goal to her credit.
Holmes is a 3.34 Exercise Science graduate student after receiving her bachelor's in exercise science from Bloomsburg in the spring of 2021.
On Friday, Holmes and the Huskies continue their pursuit of the PSAC title as they host the No. 1 seed from the West, Mercyhurst, in the first semifinals game of the tournament at 12:30 pm.
