BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The postseason awards continue to roll in for Bloomsburg University women's soccer graduate student
Natalie Holmes (Laurel, Md./Archbishop Spalding) as she was named to the DII Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Atlantic Region First Team, Tuesday morning.
This is the third all-region honor from the D2CCA for Holmes as she earned second team honors in 2019 and 2018. She is now eligible for All-America honors by virtue of her first team selection.
Holmes led the Huskies to the 2021 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship and their third-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. Holmes anchored one of the best defenses in the PSAC and NCAA DII as they held opponents to 0.57 goals per game and just 5.9 shots per game. The Huskies allowed just 47 corner kicks in 23 games. Bloomsburg posted 14 shutouts for the season.
Holmes led the team with six goals and seven assists for the year and was a perfect 4-for-4 in penalty kicks. Holmes tied the NCAA first round game against Mercyhurst with her fourth PK of the season with less than four minutes to play in the first half. During the PSAC Tournament, Holmes led the Huskies to three shutouts in three games and had three assists including one on the game-winning goal to clinch the title. Holmes was named the tournament MVP for her effort on the pitch.
Earlier this postseason, Holmes was named the PSAC East Defensive Player of the Year, earned PSAC East First Team honors, and was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team.
The Huskies finished their season 16-5-2.
