Natalie Holmes (Laurel, Md./Archbishop Spalding) earned her third All-America honor of the year as she was named to the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association Women's Soccer All-America Third Team.
Holmes led the Huskies to a 16-5-2 overall record and the 2021 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) title. The Huskies finished the conference season with an 11-3-2 record and the No. 3 seed going into the conference tournament. The Huskies claimed their second crown in the last three seasons behind three-straight shutouts in the tournament and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Holmes was named an United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-American, CoSIDA Academic Third Team All-American, PSAC East Defensive Player of the Year, PSAC First Team All-Conference, D2CCA All-Atlantic Region First Team, United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic First Team and CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team. She was also named the PSAC Tournament MVP after leading the Huskies to the 2021 Championship Title.Â
She led the Huskies with six goals and seven assists for the season and was a perfect 4-for-4 in penalty kicks. Holmes had one game-winning goal this season. She was the anchor on the Bloomsburg defense that allowed just 13 goals in 23 games this season and posted a 0.55 goals against average. The Huskies had 14 shut outs this season and allowed just 65 shots on goal and 135 shots this season.
The first team consists of student-athletes from seven of the eight regions. The Midwest led the way with four, while the South Central netted three, the West two and one from the Atlantic, Central, South and Southeast regions were named to the team. The Ron Lenz National Player of the Year award was named for long-time South Dakota State sports information director Ron Lenz in 2008. Lenz was instrumental in the foundation of the NCAA Division II All-America program, which honors outstanding student-athletes across eight NCAA Division II sports.
Sports information directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences selected the three D2 CCA All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with all first-team all-region picks advancing to the national ballot. A total of 39 student-athletes representing 22 different institutions filled out the three teams.
The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
