AUSTIN, Texas - Senior midfielder Lauren Hoelke (Blackwood, N.J./Highland Regional) of the Bloomsburg University women's soccer team has been named to the 2020-21 Academic All-America® Second Team as announced, and selected, by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). It marks the first time in Hoelke's career that she has earned Academic All-American® status and she is the first women's soccer student-athlete at Bloomsburg to earn Academic All-America® honors since Chrissy Hollan earned Second Team accolades in 2015.

Based on the absence of most fall sports competition, the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Committee revised some rules and procedures for nominating student-athletes this season. Due to the low percentage of games completed this season, the nominees were selected based on career statistics and achievements.

Hoelke has been an integral part in leading the women's soccer program to back-to-back Atlantic Regional titles in 2018 and 2019 and a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship in 2018. Over the last two seasons (the 2020 campaign was not held due to COVID), Hoelke and the Huskies have gone 35-6-4 and have finished each year ranked in the top six in the country in both 2018 and 2019.

Hoelke has had a decorated Bloomsburg career and adds to her list with her first CoSIDA Academic All-District® selection. In 2019, Hoelke was named a D2CCA Second Team All-American and a United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-American after earning First Team All-Region honors from both organizations. She also earned All-PSAC East First Team accolades after establishing career-highs in goals (13) and points (36) to lead the team in both categories. Her 13 goals were the most by a Huskies' player since 2010 while her 36 points tied for eighth-most in program history and were the most by a Bloomsburg player since 2001.

In 2018, Hoelke led the Huskies in scoring with 18 points on three goals and a career-high 12 assists. Her 12 helpers tied the school record for most assists in a single season and also tied for the PSAC lead. She was named the PSAC Tournament Most Valuable Player as she assisted on both goals during Bloomsburg's 2-1 overtime victory over East Stroudsburg in the title game. She scored nine points on three goals and three assists as a freshman in 2017.

All told, Hoelke has scored 19 goals and 25 assists for 63 points in her collegiate career.

In the classroom, Hoelke boasts a 3.63 cumulative grade point average while majoring in early childhood and special education. She was named a United Soccer Coaches Second Team Scholar All-American in 2019 after earning First Team Scholar All-Region honors earlier that year. She has also been a four-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete and earned D2 ADA Scholar-Athlete honors following the 2019-20 academic year.

Last month, Hoelke joined senior midfielder Maggie McDonald (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) and junior Nicole Varano (Mt. Carmel, Pa./Mt. Carmel) as CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team® selections.
