BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – For the second-straight year, junior Colton Schnars (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) of the Bloomsburg University's men's swimming team has been named to the Academic All-District® At-Large First Team as announced and selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Schnars had another stellar season in the pool for the Huskies during the 2020-21 season. He helped lead the team to the program's first-ever Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship with 65 total team points at the championship meet. Schnars brought home five all-PSAC awards, including four gold medals. He was a part of the PSAC champion relay teams in the 200-backstroke, 200-medley relay, 400-medley relay, and 200-freestyle relay while earning an individual silver in the 100-yard backstroke. Schnars also finish fourth in the 50-yard freestyle and sixth in the 100-yard butterfly.

During the season, Schnars posted one lifetime-best time, two BU All-Time top 10 times, and one BU team record. His time of 48.70 in the 100-yard backstroke was a BU team record and an NCAA qualifying time. The 400-yard freestyle relay time of 3:02.56 from the 2020-21 season is the ninth all-time best time at BU.

Out of the pool, Schnars carries a 3.60 GPA as a health sciences major. He is a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete after earning the distinction every year since his freshman season.

In his career so far at BU, Schnars is a two-time All-American, a nine-time PSAC champion, and a fifteen-time All-PSAC member. He also won the program's Performance Award in 2018-19. Following the 2019-20 season, Schnars was named the BU Swimmer of the Year by the program and was named the Bloomsburg University Danny Litwhiler Underclass Athlete of the Year, as voted on by the entire coaching staff at Bloomsburg.
