BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg women's swim team dove into the second half of the 2021-2022 swim season this afternoon as they swept the win against Division III Dickinson College, Saturday afternoon with a final score of 126-74.
The Huskies kicked off the meet with a first-place finish in the 200-medley relay, consisting of freshman
Gabi Walsh (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown), junior
Anna Sugra (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor), freshman
Maggie Shaffer (East Petersburg, PA/Hempfield), and junior
Grace Beierschmitt (Dover, Pa./Dover). The Huskies swept first through third place in the 200-yard freestyle as sophomore
Madison Osanitsch (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) touched first with a time of 2:00.28. Sugra followed with a time of 2:02.53 and touching third with a time of 2:04.04, junior
Courtney Hubric (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin).
Narrowly out touching Dickinson opponent, graduate student
Lindsay Mooney (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) nabbed first place with a time of 25.12 in the 50-yard free. Closing out the 50-free; the Huskies picked up third through fifth place. Senior
Julie Marchioni (Reynoldsville, Pa./DuBois Area) finished 3rd with a time of 26.54, junior
Jenna Park (Mount Joy, Pa./Donegal) touched right after with a time of 26.98 and Walsh closed them out with a time of 27.36.
The Huskies continued to impress as they took first through fifth place in the 200-yard individual medley. Freshman
Julia Riegel (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks South) took the win with a time of 2:18.67 and her teammate senior
Tara Kupsky (Bear Creek Township, Pa./Wyoming Seminary) touched a second later at 2:19.67. Sophomore
Jada Stambaugh (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson), graduate student
Kelley McHugh (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) and freshman
Catie Strayer (York, PA/Central York) took third through fifth, respectfully.
After a small break, the Huskies and Red Devils got right back into action with the 100-yard butterfly as Mooney picked up her second individual win with a time of 1:01.18. Hubric flew into the wall at 1:04.08 and secured second place, while senior
Elizabeth Turner (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) grabbed third with a time of 1:04.82. Marchioni rounded out the fly for the day as she snatched fourth place with a time of 1:05.05.
The excitement continued as sophomore
Sydney Lloyd (Nescopeck, Pa./Berwick) and Riegel tied for first place in the 100-yard free with a time of 55.64. Beierschmitt picked up her second win in the 100-yard backstroke slamming into the wall 59.26. Huskies Osanitsch, Walsh, and sophomore
Sophie Besterman (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) took third through fifth in the 100 back.
The Huskies dove into distance as McHugh took second place in the 500-yard free with a time of 5:32.39 and Strayer finished just behind her with a time of 5:40.45.
Closing out the individual events the Huskies took first and second place in the 100-yard backstroke as Sugra touched at 1:09.56 and Shaffer finished just behind Sugra with a time of 1:11.93.
The Huskies get right back into action as they compete in the Bahia Cabana sprint meet against Divison III Dickinson College, Saturday afternoon.
