Men's Swimming Defeats Edinboro 135-64 with 25 PSAC Times Friday Night

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg men's swimming team opened its home schedule with an impressive 135-64 win over Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opponent Edinboro Friday afternoon. The Huskies picked up seven event wins, had 25 1st-3rd place finishes, and 25 PSAC cut times.
 
The Huskies opened the meet with a 1-2 punch in the 200-yard medley relay. Tucker Ball (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff), Constantin Buga (Philadlephia, PA/Northeast), Dan Mueser (Mount Joy, Pa./Elizabethtown), and Andy Thomas (Harleysville, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) won the event with a time of 1.36.45, the fastest time this season for the foursome. Blake Nesbitt (Wind Gap, Pa./Nazareth), Tanner Glatfelter (Dover, PA/Dover), Nick Zaffiro (Orefield, PA/Parkland), and Drew Holmes just missed grabbing first as they finished second with a time of 1:36.79.
 
Senior Jimmy Greek (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) won the first individual race for the Huskies as he posted a new PSAC cut time of 10:20.73 in the 1,000-yard free. Luke Willard (Orefield, PA/Parkland) took second with a time of 10:26.66.
 
In a crowded 200-yard free race, Andy Thomas (Harleysville, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) paced all swimmers with his fastest time this season and a first-place finish at 1:41.93. Luke Scoboria (Birdsboro, PA/Exeter) finished second with a PSAC-cut time of 1:46.28, and Michael Huegel (Springfield, PA/Spriingfield) took third at 1:49.07, also a PSAC time. Pat Agnew (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) grabbed his PSAC cut time in the 200 as he finished fourth at 1:49.39.
 
Holmes took second in the 50-yard free with his fastest time of the season and PSAC cut time of 21.60, while Nesbitt finished third at 21.77, also a PSAC time. Josh Mansfield (Southampton, PA/William Tennet) posted his first PSAC time in the 50-free as he touched the wall at 22.64.
 
The Huskies posted a pair of new PSAC times in the 400-yard IM as Buga finished second at 4:25.45 and Sean Witmer (Millmont, PA/Mifflinburg) finished third at 4:28.64.
 
The 100-yard fly was full of Huskies as Nick Fiddler (Lafayette Hill, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh) won with a new PSAC cut time of 52.45, and Tony Goulstone (Hazelton, PA/Hazelton) took second with his PSAC cut time of 52.89. Zaffiro finished third overall with a PSAC time of 53.43, and Ball took fifth with his fastest PSAC cut time of the season at 54.02. Mansfield posted his fastest time as he took sixth and just barely missed a PSAC cut with a time of 54.20. Willard led a trio of Huskies in their first 100-yard fly race of the season, taking seventh at 55.62. Nick Madey finished eighth at 56.92, and Greek finished ninth at 58.79.
 
Thomas won his second individual race of the meet with his fastest time of the season in the 100-yard free at 45.84. Agnew swam his fastest 100-free and took second at 48.64, and Connor Empie (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) finished fourth with a new PSAC cut time of 49.44. All three Huskies posted a PSAC time in the event.
 
Nesbitt finished second in the 100-yard back with a new PSAC cut of 54.01, while Goulstone picked up a PSAC time of 54.70 as he finished third.
 
Scoboria led a trio of Huskies who finished 1-2-3 in the 500-yard freestyle as he took first with a PSAC cut time of 4:50.95. Huegel took second with his fastest PSAC cut time of 4:52.94, and Mueser picked up his first PSAC cut in the 500-free at 4:53.66 and finished third.
 
Holmes won the final individual race of the day as he earned his PSAC cut in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.22. Witmer posted his fastest time in the event with a PSAC cut time of 1:00.64 to take second, and Glatfelter finished third with his fastest PSAC time of 1:01.94.
 
The Huskies closed the meet with a second and third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. Agnew, Mansfield, Mueser, and Scoboria took second with a time of 1:27.40, and Empie, Willard, Madey, and Greek took second at 1:33.83.
 
The Huskies return to the pool next Friday when they host Clarion in a PSAC meet at 5:00 p.m. at the Nelson Field House Pool.
