BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team opened its 2022-23 season at the rain-shortened Bloomsburg Invitational on Saturday. The Huskies picked up seven wins on the day between the doubles and singles flights.

The Huskies had an impressive day in doubles.
Iu Casamitjana (Igualada, Spain/Escola Pia Igualada) and
Sergio Dilan (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Cedin) won 9-8 in the opening round of the No. 1 Doubles flight to move to the winner's side of the bracket while
Oliver Wiesemann (Jena, Germany/Deutsche Schule Málaga (Spain)) and
Vishesh Patel (Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India/Asia English School) picked up a 9-8 win on the consolation side.

Albert Martin (Barcelona/Instituto Menendez y Pelayo) and
Vini Moura (Recife, Brazil/Hoosac School) earned a 9-8 win in the first round of the No. 2 doubles flight and moved to the first-place match with a win in the second round.

Martin continued his strong play as he headed into singles action as he won the first round of the No. 1 flight, 4-0, 2-4, 10-8 and moved into the third-place match after a loss in the second round.

Patel won his opening match of No. 2 singles 4-2, 1-4, 10-7 and faced a similar fate as Martin as he lost in the second round and went to the third-place match.

Dilan won his opening round match at No. 3 singles, 4-0, 4-0 and Wiesemann earned a 5-3, 5-3 win in his first-round match of the No. 4 singles flight. Wiesemann ended the Invite in the third-place match.

Chaitanya Choudhary (Karnal, Haryana, India/St. Theresa's Convent) and Moura were set to face off in the consolation side of the No. 5 singles bracket before the early conclusion to the Invite.

The Huskies are back in action on Wednesday, September 14 when they host Chestnut Hill for a 3:00 pm contest. The match was originally scheduled for Monday, September 12 but was moved due to the forecasted rain.
