BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Head coach
Matt Haney and the Bloomsburg women's soccer team recently announced its 2023 incoming class, which will feature 13 newcomers to the program next season.
"The staff and women of BUWS are thrilled to welcome in the first-year class of 2023 to our family," said Haney. "Each player brings a unique perspective as they enter the collegiate playing field, but all 13 come with the understanding that they are joining a highly competitive environment at Bloomsburg University."
The 13 players will come to Bloomsburg from four different states. Eight players from this year's class are from Pennsylvania, one is from Delaware, two are from New Jersey, and two more are from Maryland.
The incoming players that will be joining the Huskies next season are Laci Bell, Lindsey Bull, Brooke Coco, Anna Dalesandro, Sydney Donovan, Kennedie Huber, Anika Krasnai, Makayla Lear, Alana Morris, Courtney Rebar, Daryn Savage, Beth Stephens and Olivia Thompson.
"What made this group most attractive beside their soccer skill is their acumen in the classroom," said Haney. "They are a wonderfully talented academic group that will rise to the challenge of balancing academics and athletics along with their social life."
The 13 incoming players will join a women's soccer program that has made the NCAA Tournament in four of the last five years. Additionally, the Huskies won the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship in 2021 and 2019. Last season, Bloomsburg went 14-5-2 (11-3-2 PSAC) and advanced to the PSAC Semifinals before appearing in the NCAA Atlantic Regional by receiving an at-large bid.
"Our returners pledge to welcome the 13 in, show them the ropes and teach them how to compete daily in the classroom and on the pitch," said Haney.
