Beierschmitt Wins 100-Yard Back; Sets 50-Yard Back School Record on Day Three of PSAC Championships

YORK, Pa. – Senior Grace Beierschmitt (Dover, Pa./Dover) highlighted the night for the Bloomsburg women's swimming team at the third day of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships. Beierschmitt own her first individual title of her career with a win in the 100-yard backstroke and set a school record as she led off the 200-yard medley relay. The Huskies sit in third with 609 team points through 28 events.
 
Beierschmitt was seeded first after the prelims in the morning and swam a 56.51 in the A Finals of the 100-yard back to win by 0.26. Gabi Walsh (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) joined Beierschmitt in the A Finals and took sixth overall with a time of 58.49.
 
In the B Final, Alicia Lehman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) finished fifth and 13th overall with a time of 59.75 while Jada Stambaugh (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) took 16th overall (7th in the final) with a time of 1:00.30.
 
Beierschmitt kicked off the evening's events in impressive fashion with the lead-off leg of the 200-yard medley relay. She swam an impressive 26.12 in the opening 50-yard backstroke, dropping her own school record by 0.30. Along with Anna Sugra (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor), Rylee Wenzel (West Lawn, PA/Wilson High School), and Courtney Hubric (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin), the Huskies finished second overall in the relay.
 
Madison Osanitsch (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) finished eighth overall in the 500-yard freestyle A Finals with a time of 5:07.85.
 
In the B Finals of the 100-yard breaststroke, Sugra took third in the heat and 11th overall with a time of 1:07.14. Taleah Ruben (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) finished fourth in the C Finals with a time of 1:08.09 and Katie Eisenhofer (Reading, PA/Schuylkill Valley) finished fifth in the heat with a time of 1:08.45.
 
Tara Kupsky (Bear Creek Township, Pa./Wyoming Seminary) closed out the third day of the championships with an 11th-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with as she touched the wall at 2:12.60.
 
The Huskies get back in the pool Saturday morning for the final day of the 2023 PSAC Championships. Prelims are set to start at 10:00 am while the finals are set for 5:00 pm at the Graham Aquatic Center in York, Pa.
