SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The women's track and field team had a successful team effort as five individuals won events and a number of others had runner-up finishes at the Susquehanna Multi & Easter Invitational on Saturday.
Sarah Castronova (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley),
Isabella Horvath (Cresco, PA/Pocono Mountain East High School),
Sydney Derr (Fogelsville, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh),
Makayla Force (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) and
Molly Raville (Gettysburg, PA/Delone Catholic High School) all won individual events and led the way during Bloomsburg's impressive showing.
Castronova won the 400 meter dash in what was a great event for the Huskies as the team posted the first four finishers. Castronova won the event with her time of 58.31, then
Kelsie Robinson (Media, Pa./Penncrest High School) was second with a time of 59.99.
Megan Gambogi (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) was third with a mark of 1:00.48 and
Delaney Porter (Pen Argyl, Pa./Penn Argyl Area) was behind her with a time of 1:01.59. Also placing sixth in that event was
Emma Kay (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone Area High School) with her time of 1:03.36.
Horvath won the women's high jump, edging the competition with her leap of 1.52 meters. Derr then won the women's pole vault with a mark of 3.25 meters, and teammate
Maeve Davis (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) placed third (2.80m) in the same event.
Force was the team's fourth first-place finisher, winning the discus throw with a toss of 37.16m. Raville was the team's final event winner and finished first in the javelin throw with a mark of 35.21m.
Castronova also placed second in the 200 meter dash (25.92) and teammate
Natalya Heard () was third in that event with a time of 26.28.
Brianna Dumond (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua Area) was second in the 800 meter run (2:20.05) and
Alyssa Keeley (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) posted a runner-up finish in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:52.33.
In the 400 meter hurdles, Bloomsburg's
Delaney Porter (Pen Argyl, Pa./Penn Argyl Area), Alexia Kirk and
Julia Magee (Chalfont, Pennsylvania/Central Bucks South) finished second, third and fourth overall in that order.
Devin Hubler (Minersville, Pa./Minersville Area) had solid performances in the women's long jump and triple jump, placing second in both competitions. Hubler posted a mark of 5.39m in the long jump and 11.14m in the triple jump.
Madison Baudille (Babylon, N.Y./Babylon) continued Bloomsburg's big day in field events as she finished second overall in the shot put (11.31m).
Kelly Gilmore (Colmar, Pa./North Penn) also placed second in the women's hammer throw with her mark of 44.26m.
The women's track and field team is scheduled to compete at the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell University next week for its next competition. The two-day event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 15 and Sunday, April 16.
