SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa – The Bloomsburg women's track and field team had two podium finishes and several other athletes qualify for finals during second day of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships Friday at Slippery Rock University.
The two podium finishers for Bloomsburg came in the long jump with
Dahlia Hosey (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) placing third and
Devin Hubler (Minersville, Pa./Minersville Area) placing eighth. Hosey grabbed the third-place finish with her sixth jump of the event, which was a mark of 5.54m. Hubler finished eighth overall by jumping 5.34m during her third jump of the event.
In the prelims for the 400m run,
Natalya Heard (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) qualified for the finals on Saturday after finishing second in her heat with a time of 58.20. Heard's mark set a new PR and it was also the sixth fastest time during the prelims.
Sarah Castronova (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) ran the ninth-fastest time in the 400m prelims and clocked a 58.83 to finish third in her heat.
Megan Gambogi (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) finished fifth in Heat 1 with her time of 1:00.64.
The women's 4x100 team that consisted of Heard, Castronova,
Melissa Sicinski (Fountainville, Pa./Pennridge) and
Emma Kay (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone Area High School) qualified for the finals by hitting a time of 48.85. Their mark was the eighth-fastest time during the prelims, just ahead of Edinboro's time of 49.33. The 4x100 team's time was also .28 seconds off from tying a program record.
Kelley Selheimer (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) qualified for the 800m finals on Saturday by running the seventh-fastest time in the event. Selheimer's mark of 2:18.75 was a PR and was third in her heat.
Alyssa Keeley (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) also finished third in her heat by running a 2:21.07, and her time was the ninth-fastest during the prelims.
Brianna Dumond (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua Area) finished fourth in Heat 3 (2:23.23) and
Kelsie Robinson (Media, Pa./Penncrest High School) was fifth in Heat 2 (2:26.11).
Makayla Force (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) hit a PR in the discus throw and her mark of 37.89m gave her 11
th place in the event. Force set her new career best on her third throw.
In the high jump,
Isabella Horvath (Cresco, PA/Pocono Mountain East High School) hit a mark of 1.51m to place 10
th overall in the event.
Delaney Porter (Pen Argyl, Pa./Penn Argyl Area) ran a 1:09.48 in the 400m hurdles.
Bailey Corrigan (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra High School) capped off her two-day performance in the women's heptathlon by posting a PR in the 800m run (2:42.40). Corrigan had a mark of 4.61m in the long jump and 23.35 in the javelin throw. Corrigan finished the heptathlon with 3389 points.
The PSAC Championships are scheduled to begin on Saturday at 11:00 AM. Saturday's events will wrap up the three-day event.
